Singing along to Prince

Im 19, and my girlfriend tells me off for singing along to Prince in my car. Most of the time i have a old-school Prince cassette in my car and i can't help singing along to some bits.

She says she doesnt like it when when i sing along in my highest pitched voice i can do, because it makes me sound effeminite.

Well my girlfriend is obviously 'mis-guided' and i tell her that Prince is 'THE MAN' and so am i, but she doesn't buy it...

I made her sit through Purple Rain, where i pointed out and laughed hysterically at all the bad acting parts.

like when Prince goes and stands behind Apollonia when he first meets her.

or when she goes into the club to Prince doing a solo on top of a piano with the spotlight on him.

Or when Prince speaks through the puppet.

She thinks i'm joking when i say i want to be Prince, but really i would.

I recently bought a mic so my wife could sing karaoke at home. However, I've been using it more to sing to Prince, and my wife is not impressed, especially when I go for the high notes smile
Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

My wifey luvy likes to sing along with some of the songs...

Luvy while singing along with Days of Wild,
from one of Prince's ONA shows.
"One more jam for Prince and his pants."

She just adds in the ones, she don't know... lol! smile... wink 8)

If you can hit those notes, more power to you. There's a whole giant batch of songs I can't even TRY to sing along to because of the falsetto...

if i ever happen to be in a place that does kareoke (rare) and they have darling nikki (even more unlikely) then im gonna do it, with all the stage humping and everything.

how did prince ever get away with doing that sticking your tongue through your 2 middle fingers thing?

If some guy did that, i'd think he was s dick.

but then again Prince has norrowly escaped being a dick, just because he is 'Prince'.

i actually get the opposite response, my wife tells me i sound just like Prince on everysong. i hit the highs, lows and everything inbetween. now, mind you, i don't look a thing like Prince. infact, i would say i am the opposite. i am white(for one) 265 pounds(altho not fat at all) and keep my head shaved(because it looks good, and because at 27 years of age, my forehead has turned into a 5, 6 or even a 7 head, cos my hairline is in retreat). but i know every note, lyric, and background part to everysong, and if i play Prince in the car, house, or in the home theater system, i am singing and he loves it! anyway that is my 2 cents..

my fave is either friend lover sister mother wife,
because of the high notes,
or nothing compares 2 u, the rehearsal version from the nude tour, where prince actually kips over..eat my dinner in a fancy, and comes back in on resturant.

for me, it has to be 'Baby i'm a star'. I liked this song, but now its become my favourote after wathching Prince do it on Purple Rain. I love the repeating bits with the 'oowwaaa!' , 'hold me, down' and '...doctor!'
bits makes me want to make babies.

the bit when he says doctor is so great, especially when it shows the long shot of all 3 of them doing a dance

You might have to think about getting rid of her wink

After about twenty years of singing along I've got a decent falsetto that just has to be used in the car.

See what she does when you do your best to obliterate your vocal chords on the "Your little Prince wanna grind, grind, grind" line of Darling Nikki.

If she's still in the car after that, all she needs is a little time.
