What if Prince went back to being "nasty" on his songs? Ok I'm from a JW family, but i'm not a jw, because I want to choose my own path. I do know jw who have left the congregation, and never came back. So my question is, what if Prince stopped being a JW and started back making those sexual/nasty songs we all love? What do you think they would be like?

It never really left Prince he still says "stuff" just in a mature way Ole boy is still "nasty"

I think part of the lack of nasty, four letter words is due to his age, he is matured a bit
If he was still "making those sexual/nasty songs" They would probably be tones down a bit I will take my place, In the great below

True, he sneaks words or phrases in sometimes. He has matured, which I love. Plus he has too much respect for hisself and his fans. And he know younger kids have started listening to his music now to. So I like him the way he is. I just wanted to see you guys/girl's opinions.

it kinda wouldn't make any sense now wouldn't it. like i don't think dirty when he says "it's tight, but i think i could fit you in". tsk tsk. For all time I am with you, you are with me.

Actually most of my favorite songs are not the so called nasty ones so it's never been a big deal to me. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

He hasn't lost all of his nasty. Look at the song Mellow on TRC he says "anything to make u wet". Or on 3121 Incesnce and Candles he says "I'm gonna look for the milky way and when i find it im gonna make u scream my name". I actually think is as sexy in his music as he has ever been and Prince really only swore in his hip hopish songs which are now dated. Prince's music is beyound swearing now and trust me u'd feel that the swearing was out of place if he started swearing again.

In the latter part of his career, Prince has used a lot of innuendo and he's good at it. But to stop singing things like "I sincerely wanna fuck the taste outta your mouth" is not a case of maturity, it's a case of prudishness. To me it's not a matter of either or. The choice of words on Pussy Control are not worse or better than the choice of words on Dance 4 Me, they're just different forms of art.

nursev said: It never really left Prince he still says "stuff" just in a mature way Ole boy is still "nasty" Exactly. I can give you a bunch of examples in lyrics and onstage performance illustrating this point. "New Power slide...."

Like nursev said, he's still nasty. He's just no longer being overt about it.
When he "stopped being nasty" (or at least stopped being obvious about it), many jumped to his defense saying "who wants to see a man his age act that way? It would be gross like a dirty old man." Some still jump to that when the subject comes up.
Well, I'm now about the age he was when he made that change, and I still want the "dirty". Hopefully, when I reach the age he is now I'll still feel the same way. Only young'uns think it's gross for someone in their 50s to be sexual. Real adults hope to be sexual as long as were still kickin'!

From what I understand he doesn't think homosexuality is right. I think that's quite nasty. Admittedly it's why the dinosaurs became extinct but who am I to judge?
He's fifty two/three, it'd be like Cliff touching his bum and going "sisssss". Oh...

Well I believe it would be slightly gross but very inappropriate if Prince were to be prancing around in just a pair of black speedos like he used to do when he was 20. He looked hot then (I still like to look at the pictures) but now it wouldn't look so hot. There comes a time in ones life that overt sexuality should not be shown in public. Some people (Madonna) haven't gotten the memo yet.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Well of course it should be a mature nasty...
No one wants to see a return of the speedos or assless pants. I'm talking about lyrics and attitude. As the thread title suggests: "Nasty on his songs", not on stage...

Well I'm actually 18 years old, I grew up around Prince's music, and I definitely know the change. I don't find it gross at all. Then again, he has evolved, and is forever evolving, so I like him being mature about what he says and what.

The reason Prince is in a slump these days is not due to the lyrical content of his songs, it's due to the sound and feel of the songs. He could cuss like a sailor and it still wouldn't change the way the songs sound these days. We live in a shit hop and neo stool infested world today and the world is overrun by it to the point that you're exposed to it whether you want to be or not. It's all over the place from TV commercials, to background music in TV shows and movies, it's all over the news shows like "Today" and "Good Morning America", hell, it's even took over the org. Just go over to the "Music: Non-Prince Section" and you'll see it. You can't escape it and tune it out and it has even entered his own music on several songs where he's tried to sell out and get new fans.
These are extremely depressing musical times these days so there's nothing to inspire him to make great sounding music like he used to other than try to recreate music like his old musical heros of his youth such as James Brown which he's done for years. He did it in the late 1980s and even though his music wasn't as strong as it was before "Purple Rain" when he had a complete unique sound, it still worked for him because you could still hear elements of himself along with his retro influences. But he's done it for so long and over the years, has added so many horns and jazz, that now it sounds overproduced and overdone like something on a Las Vegas stage. The sound of it almost reminds me of back in the 1970s and 1980s when Johnny Carson would have musical acts on "The Tonight Show" and they would sing with his house band rather than bring their own band. When he's not doing something overproduced, then he's selling out to current sounds which is even worse. I can't blame him for being in a slump because there's nothing to inspire him these days. If I were a musical artist, I would be in a slump too.
He could be nasty as hell but that wouldn't change the sound of the music. Being a Jehovah's Witness may play a part in the sound too because I can't imagine a more stuffy and depressing group, but even if he left them, that still wouldn't change the overall sound and mood of mainstream music of today which is enough to bring anybody down and put them in a slump. I just want catchier melodies and better production for his albums.

He's been there and done that with the bikini briefs so if he were to do it again after all these years, it would look like he's desperate to get back on top again. But age has nothing to do with being sexy in general. He hasn't become overweight or out of shape, he's still got that hairy chest, and probably still has all those pubes that would be poking out of the leg openings which are probably even thicker now which would be even hotter than they were before. Plus, he's older and his balls probably hang lower now which is even sexier. He'd look much better than these hairless little twinkboys who are a child molestor's wet dream. But no, he shouldn't go that route again because he's already done it.
Age has nothing to do with being nasty either. Millie Jackson and Denise LaSalle are old as hell and are nasty as hell. Denise is in her 70s and is nastier than ever singing about "lick it before you stick it", "pay before you pump", and "make that coochie snap, crackle, and pop". And LaWanda Page (Aunt Esther) was old as hell when she used to reach under her dress on stage and pull her panties off and throw them on a man's head in the audience and tell him to "sniff my drawers motherfucker". . . . He needs to hold a press conference to announce he's swearing again and launch the "Rude Tour" where he only performs songs that are vulgar.

HAHAHHAHA...If he did that, imagine how much Press he would get?? Haha
I really think, Prince has matured and have used innuendo to his advantage. He has not lost his sense of 'Nasty' but as many mentioned. It's very mature. What he seems to do now, is allow his 'Nasty' to come out when someone else sings what he is thinking about. I mean, let's look at 'Elixer..He licks her' ALL in that album are innuendos..Some of them even BLUNT!
'Here Eye Come' I mean..What else is he talking about? He's allowing Bria to say what he wrote..he wants her to feel like that dirty little blonde girl in Nine and a half weeks. ANYBODY who seen that movie, knows how dirty she was.
Prince just really puts it in his pocket. He makes you believe what he meant..It's not hard to tell. I really don't think he'll be blunt with his 'freakness' as he did back in the day. AND why should he? He uses that through his Innuendo..AND I can think about many of those ways! Haha It's Button Therapy, Baby!

Exactly, like I was just listening to "Something U Already Know", and boy oh boy! innuendos everywhere!

I love him being nasty.
Not just lyrically, just music that hydrates my panties.
Yes, I want that. 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

He still is nasty. In Rock and Roll love affair Prince wants her to scream out his name, if you know what I mean.

honesty, if you can go thru Prince's 1980's lyrics, you will see that most people probably paint that period as him being Nasty Rude boy with swear words and sexually filthy lyrics
But it really isn't, his 1990's output might be moreso? But his 1980's output not so, it's probably the performances and shows that we see Prince act out and thru bands and proteges the sexiness
A lot of Prince's 1980's music had a lot of non-obvious 'nasty' lyrics, very mature presentation of sex
Rainbow Children his unofficial JW album gospel according 2 Prince and these lyrics and how he masks sexual imagery is what he was doing in the 1980's I don't see sexual language as being immature and a 'curse' word placed just right can be funny or sexy
Rainbow Children has more 'nasty' or sexually expressive lyrics than Purple Rain ATWIAD & Parade combined
If like Sheba, she then could bring presents and wine
Mellow Where U wanna eat 2night, baby?
Can I sing 2 U while U bring yourself 2 joy?

A peak into Prince's thoughts:Cause & Effect
If I had the chance to do it all again I wouldn't change a thing, except my next of kin
If I could talk to myself back then right now
I see a generation lay down before they get old

the topic is about songs
Prince was still doing his rube boy raunch(if you will) during 1999 Purple Rain Parade Sign o the Times & Lovesexy, he stopped wearing the speedos after the Controversy tour
And he never wore that stuff in 'public' anyway, neither did Madonna, I have no problem with people putting on a show on stage
And I don't think (in public) there ever was a time for people to be overtly sexual, I don't want to see 19yr olds being overtly sexual in public either
