The Better Dancer ~ Prince vs Michael Jackson I know, I know, it's a choice that's close and heart wrenching but.....
Overall technique and performances - WHO get's down the best?!
Michael Jackson or Prince ?
For me, it's close but for funkiness mixed with innate abilities to be a professional Dancer - it's Prince. ThankUPrince!

Come on, even the most obsessed Prince fans would agree that MJ is a better dancer.

dancer? sure.
Performer? Prince blows that suckah out of the water. Compare both mens' concerts. Prince James Brown boot camp drilled his bands to leave (usually) nothing to be desired, but when was the last time a MJ band was complimented or ever even mentioned? [Edited 1/11/13 17:36pm]

Michael was better executing amazingly tight choreography. Prince was better at improv, more fluid... Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

For better or worse, the closest Prince came to a MJ-esque concert (where it was more spectacle than bandwork) was the Lovesexy tour, that wonderfully delicious awesome trainwreck.

Prince.
Michael was VERY choreographed and rehearsed, but to me it looks too much like what is out there, being done by so many others. It's too perfect in its execution and seems to lack the passion because of that. With Prince, it was original, always, and not overly rehearsed looking. It looked more spontaneous, and therefore, the passion was more evident.

Not to go too far off subject. Janet Jackson is the better dancer than all her choreographers and dancers used in the show. Her concert choreography looks second nature for her. That's the gift she inherited from Michael
I'm staying team Prince with this one. But Michael Jackson doing the Robot to Dancin' Machine.........as a little girl IN LOVE with Michael, I thought my head was going to explode from excitement seeing him dance all handsome and tall !! Billie Jean moves are CLASSIC.
Prince dancing to Possessed live is just

Michael Jackson
I think it's pretty obvious who was the more natural and skilled dancer. Michael Jackson could probably improv as well but he liked choreographies because he was a perfectionist, I don't see anything wrong with that. Prince is a great multi-instrumentalist and musically he is better in concert (never lipsyncs, plays multiple instruments, has a tight band) but MJ always put on a good show in terms of dancing, when he did sing he sang extremely well, and just the whole production of the show was great BUT you'll never hear anyone bragging about his band or his lipsyncing in the HIStory Tour. So if you prefer a concert, Prince is better and if you prefer a show then generally MJ is better (only Lovesexy comes close here IMO).
I love Prince and MJ equally I think, they're among my favorite artists but I think it's obvious which one is the better dancer. [Edited 1/11/13 18:54pm]

Before the lock:
For theatrical west-side story stuff, probably MJ, just because Prince doesn't really do that.
In the dance club, just overall, ... Prince by a country mile. MJ can't even come close. MJ looks like an overgrown epilyptic tranny in comparison to Prince's smooth tecniques.

Yes, those are SO nice when he was very young and this link with Michael and Diana on her variety show. Diana was doing her thang!
Clearly both Prince and MJ are HIGHLY influenced by James Brown as far as improv dancing. ThankUPrince!
