We are compiling a list of the top 55 Prince (and associates) dance jams our DJ's MUST include in their playlists over the Ultimate Prince Weekender event. This is your party and we want you to get involved by telling us what you want to hear.

Erotic City and Kiss maintain their dominance at the top of the chart. Mountains leapfrogs into 3rd place. I Wanna Be Your Lover and Billy Jack Bitch break into the top 10. Interestingly Purple Rain makes it into the top 20 as a all-time fav track our voters would choose to dance to in our Ultimate Top 55 Dance jams poll... hmmm.

i had people dancing to purple rain at a party on friday night. mind, at the time i played it they were dancing to everything and anything thanks to a free bar that would have accomodated the top 10 70s rock bands riders no problem

i wonder what peoples favourite remix of gett off is, as there are a load of different versions

A lot of the jams you've mentioned have been voted for... but not enough votes to get into the top 55...There are over 100 different jams outside the top 55 that need more votes to get in.

does that mean awful? - i'll have a play about and see if i can come up with something that doesn't sound worse than RnR remix

btw, i think the last time i looked up prince tracks you could dance to in one way or another, plus warm up stuff (ie. not slow stuff and ballads), there were about 1000 tracks. so narrowing that down to 55 takes some amount of pruning. with an average song being about 5 minutes that's about 4.5 hours of music, but with many prince tracks being considerably longer, especially with loads of 10-15 minute tracks, it pushes things closer to about 6 hours

Dancing to Purple Rain. My god, it's slower than Mistletoe and Wine! Apart from ballroom and a crap smooch about the floor I can't think of any way of dancing to this. Could it be any slower?

In fact I'd struggle to dance to any Prince tunes that weren't funk jams. Nothing gets my feet groovin like a great tune, be it funky house, northern soul or straight funk. But seriously, nearly all of the tunes so far selected in this list are awful dance tracks.

Bearing in mind the fact that I'm white, I still now how to dance on the two.

If I knew we could use the time, it would have been all Time jams, but to be fair 2 prince, have to add his too. But seriously, The Walk is one funky song. Plus Prince is saying (I am sure its him) "You know you can't dance with them tight jeans on"
