Prince's top 5 guitar solo's

I think Prince is amazing when it comes 2 his guitar work. It seems as if he doesn't get enough recognition 4 it. So it made me think about some of my favorite guitar solo's that he has put 2gether over the years. I listed my top/fave 5 , but I'm sure there are quite a few I've either 4gotten about or haven't heard. Maybe they just didn't come 2 mind yet. What do u consider 2 be his top 5 guitar solo's? Here are mine:

1) Purple Rain

2) I Could Never Take The Place of ur man (Sign "O" the Times)

3) Automatic (1999)

4) The Morning Papers (Love Symbol Album)

5) I Will (Chaos & Disorder)

Extra: I loved the solo he had at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (While my guitar gently weeps). Watching him do that solo was chilling. Also, just about everything he did with the guitar on Rainbow Children was on point in my opinion.

His best guitar solos are not on any album.

There's no such thing as his "best" - only what are your favorites. In no particular order, mine are:

1. Computer Blue

2. The Holy River

3. Jay Leno Show performance of Guitar

4. Dolphin

5. Redheaded Step Child/Houston, TX performance

SO glad you mentioned 'I Will' to be on an album, that guitar solo is really one of his best! I can never get enough of it!

So many mentioned 'Just My Imagination'...DAMN..You never heard Prince play Guitar, until you heard that! SO soulful and just takes me away!

Since I love Prince on Guitar, I can't really pick favorites! And I sure nuff ain't going to say the best of the best because he has so many..lol

SO my top 5 Now have to be...In No Particular Order

Tangerine (Extended Version) (Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic)

Last December (The Rainbow Children)

Glass Cutter (NPG Music Club..It still counts! Haha)

Future Soul Song (20Ten)

Xpedition, Xogenous...I have to include these two songs as they wonderfully showcase his unique range of guitar playing! (Xpectation)

I still don't know how he did that section where he made the guitar sound like water filling a bottle.

Are you talking about the one on wax from 1999? That sounds like a rubber being removed.

Im talking about the live verson from 1984.

i totally forgot about that awesome brachiosaural solo in "the war"

just listened to it again. damn that's a harsh one. not his best or

most beautiful but it certainly won't be denied as it claws it's way

out of your speakers and howls in your face like the aphex twin's

"come to daddy" tv monster.

eek

Im a sucker for crescendo solos and The War is a great, albeit, underrated one. I think it (hell, the whole song) gets overlooked due to the connection of it with the Crystal Bal fiasco.

another great one is: vienna club U4. 1987-05-28

the solo in the "instrumental/got my mind made up/nine" medley.

it goes on for about 7 minutes and i'm always amazed when i'm

listening to it, by the fact that his hands didn't cramp up during it.

it's so incredibly fast. dead
