Prince 21 nights book and Cd.

So im looking to keep adding to my collection and i have yet to add the 21 nights however i just had some questions. Is there a concert dvd that comes with this set? Is the cd thats included with the book the indigo nights cd. is it a good concert? And is it worth 10-20 bucks that i can pay to get the book and the cd.

No DVD was offficially released to accompany this project.

The material is edited from two aftershows (not concerts) - details are given here:

In the link above, you will also read about the Opus promotion, which also included a video.

A promotional DVD also appears to have been prepared, possibly to accompany the standard book / CD release or the Opus project. The DVD was never officially released, and does not appear to have been used for promotional purposes, but this does circulate. It includes some concert footage as well as various interviews.

$10 to $20? Is that all it's still going for?

Never going to be able to unload these 10 sealed copies I picked up at the Borders liquidations.

Whats up with it. Sounds like it should be awesome. Bad quality. Or just sucky performance?

Sound quality is great

Its probably just me. Buts not kind of live album i want or expected.

Too much emphasis on the horn section for me, it reminds me of some dixieland jazz band

Not enough of prince on vocals

There are better bootlegs with better material from the same time

well just ordered the book and the cd from halfprice books for 7 dollars smile

Cool biggrin

I only bought the book for the CD. The book's tat.

I was right up his nostrils on the 16th September in the Indigo. A fair bit of that's on the CD. Naturally I was chuffed to have some of it in better quality but I wouldn't be without the FYMs or Indigo Chronicles versions of the whole show. It was a blinder. Horns and all.

Nice for those that were there maybe but not exactly what you'd expect as an album release? It is what it is I spose. Nice touch for the memories but coulda done without having to pay for an oversized cd cover.

The book is great if you love pictures of mostly empty hotel rooms and maids, bland pictures of streets, and a few pictures of Prince.

Only reason to get it is the Cd. It's actually pretty good. I agree that it would be much better if there were more full length songs with Prince singing, but it's far better than people give it credit for. I like the horns, and the jazzy arrangements.

The entire project was a waste of time for Prince and a waste of money for fans.

The book is stupid and pointless, I mean there's a picture of a fucking doorknob or some shit, right?

And the CD… I always heard those Indigo aftershows were incredible. But you'd never know it frim this album.

Poor song choice.

It's just another missed opportunity to deliver what the fans really want.

I was at that gig too and also met the twins that night. I was very lucky to go to 4 of the indigo 3121 aftershows and 6 O2 gigs.. For me, 2007 was Prince Summer and I have happy memories of so it's nice to have the book and CD. I remember him mentioning MJ in his speech about Photographers and I went crazy as I'm a big fan of the gloved dude too and was looking forward to 2009 being "MJ summer" and had a few tickets for those shows :-(

I can understand why people bag this project out as the live CD is kinda different to what you would expect, personally though I like it, especially the photos of the twins, who were lovely in person.

Hmm im so anxious to listen to this . I just can't see how there being to much horns is a bad thing. I love P and his voice but i'd pay atleast 1/3rd of the Price to go see his band without him because his bands are great.

Concert DVD?

What 'meds' are you using?

When did he do a concert DVD recently?

He can't even get a live audio release right!

What did this retail at initially? I still have my sealed, pristine copy and I can't remember what I paid.

I've never been that tempted to open it. I'm now thinking it'll remain intact forever!! It's a collectors item of course.

That's what I told myself until the reviews came in and I saw it for a fiver in Fopp (a UK record store). There's probably seldom been such an opulently produced item that's had less interest from the public at large, let alone the fanbase.

I guess we should be glad that our now rather niche artist still has the resources to produce a glossy book and CD.

The original recommended retail price in the UK was £30.

It was soon being discounted and I purchased for £5

I loved the book. Very thick...lots of photos writings...big bulky and heavy. Just as good as having a LP in my opinion. The CD I wasnt really expecting. Listened to it. It's okay. The song choices were akward in my opinion but it is really nice to have Satisfied, 3121 and Whole Lotta Love in soundboard. The brass hors do sound very weird..I wasnt too accustomed to it. The book is what I bought it for mostly and I was appreciative of the CD nevertheless.

the book is quite lame, nearly no concertpics , therefore crap.the cd is good , but only if you like those aftershows , is completely different to what you get to hear on a mainshow these recent years.I like it a lot , the songchoice and of course the soundquality which is way better than bootquality.

7 euro for a prince live album is still a bargain, even when not being perfect. The book is pointless as it hardly holds concert pics. It s a fancy brochure for the hotel.

Dreadful book and album. I got ripped off too. Paid US$ 36 for that MF back in 08. By 2010 our Borders was selling it for $5
