Suggestions for Prince songs that should/could be covered? What do I mean exactly?
I remember listening to "Horny Toad" sometime back and suddenly it hit upon me: I'm surprised no hardcore or punk rock group hasn't covered it, adapting it's core frantic (awesome) temp. It could even do well live. I really do think it would actually....well you know, rock.
Any other such suggestions?

"Strange Relationship" is one of those songs that I could see plenty of artists do a cover of.
The problem with doing Prince covers is that many of his best "pop" songs have lyrics that contain lines that you could only see Prince singing. When the Eels covered "If I Was Your Girlfriend" it was just plain silly and (E) knew it.
I think many artists have covered his songs not because they really want to do the specific songs, but because they want to do a "tribute" to Prince by covering one of his songs ("just to let you guys know that I'm really into Prince").

Yet TLC did a pretty great cover.
And you're right about the tributes, but I like to think his catalogue is diverse and wealthy enough that you could do countless artistic reinterpretations.
I mean as obvious as it sounds, "Endorphinmachine" would be a killer heavy metal/nu metal track.

Disagree with endophinmachine but Bambi would be a great heavy metal cover.
