No, WB didn't profit, but they were also his record label, and they weren't supporting him and didn't think he could make them money, so he wrote and released the song to prove his point.

Yeah, big fan too, although it seems to be very un-hip here. The single version is vastly superior to the album version for me - he hits some fantastic notes and great harmonies on the fade-out. I also love the end of the video from the Beautiful Experience with the additional little melody as he gazes down, the camera pans away skywards from the elder lady and then he walks off. Somewhat sad and melancholic.

This song has always been one of my favourites and I will never get tired of hearing it. It's a beautiful song.

I always thought this was one of Prince's most underrated songs among the fans so it's nice to see all the positive comments! I always loved the track!
