I feel like the first verse and the general concept is kinda cool but the subsequent verses sort of devolve into corny lyrics and forced rhymes.

I can't tell much from a short snippet, although the lyrics are predictably stupid. Given that Prince's most enduring strength these days is his virtuoso guitar playing, it's at least good that he make songs that accentutate that.

Reductio ad absurdum

Every song has a lyrical context. Kiss has phenomenal lyrics because the context is that of a fun pop song. Its lyrics aren't politically charged or provocative, but that's fine because they aren't required to be. Its lyrics are charming and cute.

"Act your age, not your shoe size" is an example of a classic line, as is "Women, not girls, rule my world."

These lyrics are just lazy attempts to rhyme.

any theories? sounds to me like he is gearing up to open up the vault in some limited way.

Didn't hear the studio version, but the live snippet reminds me of "Brand New Boy", which I like a lot.

Both sounded really good. On top of RNR Affair & Superconductor this has me very excited about 2013.
