Turn It Up 2.0

I'm just now getting around to ordering a copy of this book from Uptown -- can anyone share their thought/opinions on the book, delivery time from Uptown to the U.S., etc.?

it is an amazing book. I couldn't put it down. I thought that UPTOWN couldn't top their other book projects, but I was wrong.

Check it out! Can't wait until they do 3.0

It's a must have for a Prince fan. Both Turn it Up ánd Days Of Wild, unfortunately I haven't bought the Days Of Wild book just yet.

Prince: A Documentary by Per Nilsen was seen as 'The Prince bible' for a long time, Days Of Wild is it's successor.

I just ordered both of these and can't wait to get them.

So how does DMSR compare to either of these?

DMSR is more a story. These 2 are reference books. To look things up.
Turn It Up has a list of all the prince-penned songs, DoW has a chronological sequence of events.

TURN IT UP 2.0 is already in serious need of updating.

It's amazing how Per Nilsen & co. seem to have a knack for documenting some really obscure facts, while some of the more familiar must-get items (like the New Years Eve concert video at Paisley featuring Miles for instance) remain absent from the survey.

There are some decidedly rum chronological issues as well dealing specifically with some of the rehearsal sessions, like the "Parade rehearsal # 3" error which, considering the "update" in a recent issue of UPTOWN, should have already been dealt with.

BUY THIS BOOK! reading

If you think you love Prince, this book will whet your appetite even further! The unreleased songs section - with comments from people like Susan Rogers, Eric Leeds, etc., - is fantastic. worship

And until these issues are sorted out I will continue with these reminders on behalf of UPTOWN, just in case it passes them by!

Why not simply email UPTOWM direct and voice your concerns to them?...isin't that more logical?

You're quite right of course.
Having said that, all my observations have been made in a purely constructive way. It would show UPTOWN how scrutinised their output has become amongst the community they cater for, which is not necessesarily a bad thing, and would actually have the effect of strengthening their quality control department. It's all simbiotic.

Let's face it, "Spot the mistakes in TURN IT UP 2.0" would have made one hell of a topic, but I've consciously elected not to go down that road.

Well i can assure you they are very much aware that they are being watched, as some people love to pick over things in the hopes they, god forbid, make a mistake or have a typographical error.

Not saying you at all...but some people would love to see UPTOWN fail or screw up, nature of the Prince community...luckily these people are the minority.

Quality control...again, they are not producing a product but a work of love an dedication, considering the 180 page book that is...i think they did an amazing job.

But as you say, withour fans helping out and showing up the errors, they would not be corrected.

As someone said...UPTOWN will only be as good as the information they are provided with and the participation of fans.
