You appear to be younger than I am but you were mature enough in the times of his second Montreux appearance and beyond. He failed to communicate correctly around the whole happenings and even though he recorded the performances, and appeared to really go for those recordings, they were never legally released until today. No but my father has. Can't really call it a meeting I suppose because all that happened was Prince came into this resturant my dad was working at and ordered some food. He told me this like a year maybe two ago he didn't go into detail about it. All he said was that it was in the 80's and that Prince was "A small guy, about your size."
That made me crack up and I was like "No way!" Because I was still like fourteen or fifteen and was barely even 5'2. BUT I've grown, I'm 5'2 and a half now . Apparantly Prince quietly ordered whatever it was he wanted and left. So exciting huh?
My father isn't a 'fan' and I doubt he even cared much that Prince showed up at his resturant. Maybe I'll ask him for more details later.

Didn't speak to him but he stood next to me while waiting to get on stage at the Bar None afterjam in Vancouver. We were the same height... to be right beside him for a hot minute.

Yeah, he chased me through a crowd and when I turned around he turned and ran....this a true story, for real. [Edited 12/16/12 17:38pm] "If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so". Thomas Jefferson

First of all, I went to the Montreux shows. Second thing, I don't think he ever talked about releasing the DVD. He only released those few videos and there's no connection between that and thinking of releasing a DVD.

You forgot the hoopla before the shows.

Met P in Miami on October 9 1999 @ The fountain Bleu Hotel... P performed after a award show in the ballroom for monitor magazine. Clive Davis was welcoming him to the arista family and P brought the house down after the award show. About 10 minutes into the show P started talking about radio and arista and I yelled out from directly infront of him..." hey P, do the splits for me" he fired back "how many do you want me 2 do"? i said " two" and he turned around to the NPG and said "breakdown" and hit them 2 times and asked" is that good enough for u?" I was on a purple high 2 say the least, then shortly after that he brought a woman up on stage to dance with him and then he said those magic words ," I need a fella 2 come up here and turn her out!" I was on stage and dancing with the woman before I could even think, the woman asked me "what should I do?" and I told her 2 "act like u been here before baby...there is 1500 people in here". at this point she froze!!! just stopped like a deer in headlights, and thats when my showmanship kicked in!!! I stoop next to P and did all of the old school dances I could remember, the wop, cabbage patch, smurf, cadillac, and some others.... P was laughing at me at this point and he says to me "man what is up with u?" . I told him my name and where I was from and showed him my tattoo, told him how long I have been listening to him and so on.... he says "what is a big 'ol man like u liking me like that?" and I said " I wasn't always this big P, ur not the only one that wore some of moms shirts!" He came up to me and asked me "what songs do u know? I want u2 sing the chorus with me." I saip... "P play something." he gave me this look and I said 2 him... "if it has been on a album, I got u." We sang together for what seemed like forever!!! but probably was like 30-40 minutes. He played guitar and I had my right arm around him and we sang into the same mic!!! Steve Parke took several pics of us and the performance was taped as well, however, I wasn't lucky enough to get my hands on any of that. After the performance, we spent sometime together at the Rave CD listening party. I met Larry Graham and his lovely wife, Mr Hayes, Kirk, and the man himself! He actually said to me that I turned the show out!!! I asked P several times if he would send me a copy of the performance or some of the pics that Parke took and P ignored me, other than that, he was great to me and gave me a lifetime of memories, but , I would love to have a 3ft x 5ft pic of us on stage in my living room or be able to play the dvd of the show for friends when they come over. And BTW... Prince used my voice on rave n2 the year 2000 when he does the splits on that carpet!!! I was in shock when I saw it on NYE 1999.. I was like "damn , thats me saying 2!" "he used my voice!"
I love P dearly to this day and I am looking forward 2 meeting him again one day!!
JP DOES ANYONE HAVE FOOTAGE OR PICS FROM OCT.9 1999 AT THE FOUNATIN BLEU IN MIAMI??? ORG NOTE ME IF U DO...PLEASE!!!

I knew P & Andy were in Amsterdam.
I was on my way to somewhere on my fluorescent yellow bike. when a long white limo drove next to me and I imagined it was them, driving around the city.
So, I started a racing competition on my bike with his limo. Limo had to stop for traffic lights, and pretty effortless I was winning the race
of course
Untill we reached the crossing at the end of the road. I had to turn right to get where I was heading to, white limo went other way.
Otherwise, I'm sure I would have won that race
For real 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

My encounters with Mr. Nelson and funny story.
1984 -- My neighbors cousin Kendra dated Mark Brown..We got tickets to the very first Sheila E show at the Agora in Cleveland where i grew up. Prince showed,, meet her band.
Fast forward 6 o 7 years.. My sister now works for Russel Simmons at DefJam..At the time, I became friends with Troy Beyers sister who had great stories..Prince also loved the Def Comedy Jam and he would have his assistant, Theresa Stoule (sp) call my sister to get the raw tapings of the shows to watch while he was on tour. She wold oblige and he subsequently sent her the raw video of Sexy MF and a thank you card that said , keep shaking your ass (lol)..
1995 - My sister has left DefJam and now a producer and we go back to cleveland to do the rock hall of fame concert. Her producing parter is dating mr leroy bennett. They have me pick him up from airport. He is coming in from France. he had the heaviest duffle bag ever. i think i got a hernia from piclking it up. Very nice guy and great P stories.;. He ultimately married my friend. Talking with some crew memebrs who worked the purple rain tour, they recount how great a shape Prince is in. They tell a story of getting the plexiglass bathtub in and before it was secure on the riser, prince was so excited he jumped in to see how it felt and it fell of the riser @ 20 ft to the ground woith him in it. They thought he was dead. He apparently laughed a little, picked himself up and kept it moving. They credit his physical condition as a reason hhe wasnt hurt.
1997 - my sister calls me in boston and says she and joel galen are doing the rock and roll induction ceremony and she has booked Prince to inducted George Clinton and wanted to know if i wanted to help out. She put me in charge of teh talent and worked with him on the script that he ultimately didnt say. He kept calling us to the room for changes. Great week in ohio as Mike jackson, mavis, diana ross were all in the house. the wanted prince to do joni mitchell case of u as she was getting inducted as well.

With Prince being a Jehovah's Witness (or at least having been one) a small amount of people will have met him when he attended their meetings or went on the 'field service' (which is what they call door-to-door work). Some may even have had him in their homes when he went on the field service. In a Michael Jackson biography there is an account of someone inviting Jackson into their home when he was a Jehovah's Witness, not realizing who he was as in those days he always wore a disguise in public.

I FIRST MET PRINCE ON THE FIRE IT UP TOUR WITH RICK JAMES AND IT WAS A PRETTY EXCITING JOURNEY. WATCHING PRINCE PERFORM WAS FIRE. I MEAN HIS BAND WAS SUPER TIGHT. HE IS NOT THE TALKATIVE PERSON IN THE WORLD BUT ALL THAT MATTERED WAS THE LIVE SHOW WHEN IT COMES TO PRINCE.

Gosh, yes.
He held up a line in Alabaster, Alabama at a Piggley Wigley argueing with the cashier that double-coupons should apply to ground beef. Apparently, he thinks the price of meat is too high in the deep south.

Never met him, but we gave each other the head nod...
I went to the 2001 Celebration in MPLS. Prior to his weekend shows at the XCel Center in St Paul, we were allowed in to his soundcheck. We were all sitting to the right of the stage, Prince was in the center of the arena, calling out cues and what have you from the soundboard. They were starting to let the "regular" folks into the arena, so Prince said something like. "Y'all better get to yo seats." There were a few security guards and they tried to make us all walk back up the steps and around the arena to get to our seats - none of us listened. We all hit the floor of the arena and headed straight for the soundboard, where Prince was still chillin. I dont remember anyone rushing up to him...we all just wanted to walk near him, I guess. I walked right past him, made eye contact...when he didnt look away, I gave him the head nod. He had a little grin and gave it right back. I was giggling like a ten year old girl for the rest of the night.
I did meet a couple of band members once. After the Aladdin show in Vegas (the one they released on DVD), Prince did an after show at Studio 54. I walked in and standing about five feet away from me were Rhonda Smith, Renata Neto, Kathy Dyson (not sure if that's her name, but she was the black chick with braids that played guitar for Prince...I dont think she was in the band anymore, but she was there). I was totally caught of guard and Rhonda saw me staring in awe. She waved me over and we talked for a minute. I was kind of tongue tied and dont remember much of what they said. I just remember telling them, "You guys are fucking ridiculous...in a good way!" and they all died laughing.
