Anyone meet Prince? I know 2 friends who are in the business and have met him and said he is lovely. One was a female singer and said he looks straight into your eyes and is softy spoken and a gentleman. She sings with the dap kings :) I have not got round to hearing the other story yet. Any stories? It gets so salty baby (bittersweet by Lewis Taylor)

never met him, never wanted to. however there was a time when he was playing in london (think it could have been during nude) and he was staying at the plush conrad hotel in chelsea. my girlfriend at the time was starstruck by him, as was i if truth be told, so after the gig at wembley we whizzed around in her car to the conrad to see if we could get a glimpse. we managed to sneak by security into the hotel and searched a few floors to no avail so we had a drink and left. we were sitting in her car which was parked a wee distance away eating a sarnie when i heard a commotion on the mini-roundabout behind us. 2 big burly looking dudes in suits were remonstrating with a couple of guys that had ran onto the roundabout and blocked the limo they were driving. i got out of our car and approached the limo, unnoticed by everyone and peered through the tinted back window of the limo and sat there was prince. he flashed me that big toothy grin of his, lightly shaking his head, but in a very humourous way, as if to say "it's a tough life being a star". i laughed back, shrugging my shoulders, before being spotted by the driver and quickly moved away. the bodyguards jumped back in the limo and sped off...and i mean SPED off. the whole scene wouldn't have lasted 30 seconds. this was the only time i had any personal interaction with prince but it was really cool to see that he was good-humoured and light-hearted about being hassled by over exuberant fans. don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....

Told a few times already:
My short meeting with Prince:
after the aftershow at Vega Copenhagen 2002.... (yes I was there and it was excellent..!),
Me and some friends went outside a few minutes after the show ended (maybe half an hour?). We turned around a corner and a big white limousine was just passing us,
I have never seen such a big car like that in Denmark, it was huuuge.
and, in it was Prince himself in the backseat: he made the limo stop and rolled down the window, then he looked at us, and asked in his deep voice:
"Was it too loud"??
We were all amazed, and stumbled (is that the right word?).. anyway we mumbled or shouted back something like: "No No No... it was great".
Prince must have been satisfied with the answer, cuz he rolled up his window and the limo droved away out into the night of Copenhagen. He was gone...
It all happened really quickly, I guess it all took about 10, maybe 20 seconds,
a really nice experience, we laughed and had a great time, talking about this little "happening".. sorry for my bad english.... Prince 4Ever.

Told these stories before but might as well put them out there again.
Never actually met but been very close and had an eye contact moment.
It waw at one of the One Night Alone after parties in London at the Embassy Club. I really don't like clubs much and we were standing out of the way a bit, it was quite late and was considering leaving. Suddenly there was commotion and lots of people were heading our way. I turned round to see what was happening and came eye to nipple with a mountain of a man! It was one of the security team and as I moved slightly and looked past him Prince was there, just a couple of feet away and looking a bit concerned about the mass of people pushing towards him. I cought his eye and gave a little smile and nod but he didn't respond, he just looked bit worried. Then a few seconds later he was gone.
Had opportunity to speak to him at one of the ONA soundchecks but as I've never been too concerned with actually meeting him I didn't bother. As we came in for the soundcheck, Prince was sitting in the seats and we could go up and chat. I decided it was a better plan to get a good seat .
Not me but a guy I work with has spoken to him on the phone. He used to work as a studio engineer and was working in the studio with Mathilda May who was involved with Prince at the time. A guy rang up to speak to Mathilda but she wasn't available, my colleague asked if he wanted to leave a message but he said he'd call back and didn't leave his name or a message. When he relayed the message to Mathilda she asked if it was an American guy and when he said it was, she told him it was Prince.
The same guy also relates one of my facourite Prince stories.
Following the phone call he was chatting with Mathilda saying how amazing Prince was and she told him a story about how he works hard to be that amazing. She was at his place in America and he was working out a new piece on the piano. He was literally working on it all day, practicing, tweaking etc. The following day some record execs were there talking with him about some new album tracks, (sadly I have no idea which ones), and one of them suggested that a track needed something extra. Prince thought on this for a moment before announcing that he had an idea. He then headed over to the piano and 'spontaneously' came up with the exact part he'd been working on the previous day. The execs agreed it was perfect and acclaimed his remarkable genius. RIP

I've not met him (Prince) personally, but I did sing onstage with him once. But, we didn't get to talk any. I was too busy trying to remember the words to "Play That Funky Music White Boy"!
My daughter sang with him a couple times when she was very young, and he was extremely nice to her. His whole band and security crew were, too. Great people!

Well i've also met two people who have met prince. My band and I played a small set at the Houses of Parliment and Bernie Marsden from White Snake was there and we got talking. He was a very nice guy and extremely interesting and he told us a story of how he was performing in Minneapolis in the 70s and someone afterwards invited him around to their house for a jam with a bunch of buddies. Well anyway he said there was this kid there who was switching between instruments and was just amazing but very shy and hard to talk to. He said he thought nothing more of it until he seen the music video for Little Red Corvette a few years later and thought to himself 'Holy shit that's the kid I seen in Minneapolis!' Also whilst we were there, we spoke to a politician who met Prince in the 90's, however he said he had a a veil over his face and laughed about how Prince was acting completley normal with this mask over his face! I got two sides... and they're both friends.

I was front row at the Musicology tour in 2004 in St Louis and I looked up at him and said "Prince, you gotta give me a high Five man".. He Looked down on me and laughed and got on one knee and grabbed my hand and then got up and kept singing. Was literally one of the most amazing moments of my entire life!!

Well my friend actually had a one to one conversation with him. She is a great singer do not want to out who she is. She told me privately he just looks directly into your eyes and makes you feel you are the most important person ever and he was a gentleman and totally normal. The closest I got was t the concert in Melbourne. I was dancing to Icould never take the place of your man and Prince looked at me, played his guitar and blinked directly at me and smiled, I swear. I nearly died, Prince noticed me!!!!! [Edited 12/12/12 18:19pm] Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Lol Lewis Taylor he used to send me his covers :) One of the nicest 'famous' person I have met was Marcus Miller hanging with him in the green room talking about Miles, Joni and Lewis :) I got Marcus into Lewis. I was with Marcus when he had to do a show the same night as Luther died. We both cried one of the best voices ever. It gets so salty baby (bittersweet by Lewis Taylor)

Prince made fun of me at the aftershow because it was like 3am and I was standing on top of something and nodding off at a pillar and he was smiling and making the sleepy gesture like this to me:
and then later he pulled up his pants hems to show me his toes and platform flip flops when I was laughing he laughed too
at the concert he stretched out his hand and I touched it but didn't look at me, he was too busy singing I'm the mistake you wanna make

You are so right, its those eyes, he can just pore right into your soul. I wasn't the same. I thought I have been loving him for 21 years and he just returned that love back, by appreciating the fact I was totally getting into the groove. I was one fo the few too, who had bought a tour tshirt (I bought 2 actually) and put it straight on for the concert. He may have sensed I had come a long way 2 c him (All the way from New Zealand) to Melbourne. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

He arrived on a white unicorn that didn't actually trot but rather floated across the ground. Rainbows followed him, and somehow there were always roses on the ground in front of, and beside him.
His eyes were like....nah, I'm kidding. My comment was a joke. I've never met Lewis Taylor.
I don't think Prince would disappoint you but I get where you're coming from.

Hi there, told this story a few times already here - it's about the ona tour a few years ago:
"have 2 tell u a little story which mixes 2gether with yours: one of my friends (we know each other since we are 15) was the bus-driver of prince for the whole european tour - i mean he was driving this black bus where prince & his wife was touring trough europe. i met him twice - once in berlin and once in zurich and we had time to talk a little and what he told me about prince really made me smiling - he said p was very gentle, often talked to him during the drives from one city to another and really had fun 2getherone little story that made me really laughing (hope my englisch is good enough to translate it): when they were sitting in the bus from brussels to berlin (an 9 hour ride) p asked after 5 minutes, how long the ride would be - my friend said about 9 hours! 20 minutes later p came to my friend and asked: aren`t we already here? from this time on, my friend said, it was a givin` and takin` and they often had a laugh together. wow - it was always my dream to know prince since i am 14. now one of my friend really knows him - and i am lookin forward for december - then he will be back from the next tours (now he is driving with pink and the foo fighters btw.) to listen to the stories he will hopefully tell me."
my closest meeting with p was at the aftershow in vienna at the technical museum (back in the 90's) where he stood just next to me talking with tommy barbarella - but I was to afraid to talk to him.
greets netzverWalter

1st question: what about the Montreux fiasco? 2nd question: now you tell me about Cologne, Germany in 2011 3rd question: what about the remasters? 4th question: why still so many hits? Etc.
That's the only reason for ever meeting that guy, but I suppose I will not get any decent honest answers. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.
