What is your copy of SOTT like

Mine's a Specially-priced Double Compact Disc (in a single width case, mind you!) with a powder blue heart, with the title on, on the cover. The heart is now looking quite worn... anyone else still got the stickers on their cover, or did you rip-‘em-off?

I know, that’s why I am asking, just wondering what the distribution is like. The fact that they (the double CD's) came with stickers is news to me though.

Just for the record (and if it is I you refer to as “anal”) there is nothing wrong with being anally retentive, I get the most out of my food that way!

I assume the original double-width case had the tracklist for both discs on the back insert. The copy I picked up from a used-cd place came in a double-width case, but the only the first disc tracklist is printed on the back insert. Kind of weird. The discs themselves play perfectly though, which is what I cared most about.

Yes...I still have my double-width case. If I recall, when I bought the CDs (almost 15 years ago!!) the sticker was on the outside of the shrinkwrapping, not adhered to the case itself. So, my sticker is history. sad The double-width box contains two separate lyric books -- what does the single-width box include, and is the art on the CD itself any different, or is it still blue type in the SOTT typeface??

I also need to buy a new copy -- when I rip the album into MP3s, regardless of quality settings, I get nasty pops in the title track. Also have the same problem with the 0(+> album in the middle of 3 Chains O' Gold...even bought an extra copy and have the same problem with it, too. sad

Only one lyric book in the single case all lyrics in black SOTT font, white background. Cover art is, I think, the same but title is in RED, song titles on the back in BLUE. It says "Two Disk Set" on the front (in Red) as well.

Double wide, no sticker.

Speaking of stickers does anyone still have the sticker that came with the ARTWIAD LP of the little boy with the balloon? I foolishly threw it away when I first got it now I wish I'd have kept it. sad

Mine is like that too. I got mine from the BMG music club so maybe yours is from there too. You can tell if it's got a white little area on the back that says "Manufactured for BMG Direct Services" (or something like that).

All the lyrics in the book are in the hand-painted-kindy-drippy-looking SOTT typeface? In my two lyric books from the SOTT case, the lyrics are in a standard sans-serif typeface (like Helvetica). Seems like the SOTT typeface would be tough to read if all the lyrics were that way. Hmmm.

SHIT, I am sorry duh I just checked (should have done that before i guess) only the song titles are in SOTT "drippy" font. Lyrics are in small caps normalish font.

I bought the CD the day it came out back in 87. It was two seperate single CD jewel boxs. The sticker was on the outer wrap so its long gone now. I JUST replaced it recently since the original was so scratched up.

Yep, the original release was in TWO seperate cases. I have that version, the double thick version, and the new double cd version in the single case. I really like SOTT and have gone through a few copies.

At the time I didnt like cds much (preferred the large album cover) so I have the vinyl version which is now slightly worn with the odd scratch and the record peeping out of the bottom of the cover, Super . Also ended up with the double cd (wide box) although no sticker on sad

Vinyl double LP together with the promotional plastic peach flower given away with it.

Double width 2CD with blue sticker,
ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

My copy of the SOTT album is like two flat silver discs of 5" in diameter. smile

I've got the double-width CD case with no sticker. I think mine was shrink-wrapped too with the sticker on the outside.

I also had it on cassette which sounded clearer & louder and also (somehow) felt better when I held it. It was like a little pocket book. I think I gave it somebody when it got a bit fuzzy.

If you want to boost the levels on any Prince album, use the MP3Gain program. Its amazing. You can download it here: http://www.geocities.com/mp3gain/

My CDR backups sound better than the original discs.

Hey, man I still have the two "Parade" stickers, the big red cherry moons that advertize the movie and the hit sngle "Kiss"

Know what else I got? The blue "Sign" heart, album and casette versions, the "Batman: Prince" oval sticker, the "Prince The Legendary Black Album" square.I kept the "Contriversial New Album" misnomer stuck on the "Rainbow" cd too.Kept the "Rave" 'Arista Debut' and guests misleading sticker. No Doubt is listed? Dude, it's only Gwen, and you can barely hear that woman!

Prince cd's/albums actually didn't have many stickers, but If you held onto them, they're cool to look back at, when a Prince album was an event!Dig?

Thanks X, I'll check that out. I've always wondered how I found a copy like that when every set I've seen in commercial outlets always has both tracklists on the back. If it's not from BMG, I'm guessing it's from a similar direct distribution group.

This is true. The original came in a long box with 2 separate cd's. Then came the double wide version. Then came the single width, single case with the flip-thingy. I have the first 2 versions.

I have two seperate single CD jewel cases (bought it on day 1, together with the 2lp-set) and the prints on the cd's are mixed up, meaning:

disc one looks like cd1, but playes cd2
disc two looks like cd2, but playes cd1

The blue heart should be somewhere... but I still have the big blue heart that came with the vinyl 2lp-version!

Peace,
TheKid
