I think Chaos is a very underated album. It does have one of the worst ever released, I Rock Therefore I Am, but apart from that I think its a great little album.

Far superior to NPS or Rave.

I have to confess that somehow Dinner with Delores stuck in my head...in a chewing-gum-in-the-hair kind of way.

Dinner with Dolores is the best song on there by a mile and i consider this song classic Prince. However it's the sort of thing he would've made in the 1980's ever so casually. It sounds like a great lost outtake. I will is kinda sweet too and the title track has a great driving riff. Besides that though it's garbage.

To even think about "Chaos and Disorder" is OVERTHINKING "Chaos and Disorder", dig?

I'm talkin' about it as a concept with any feeling or message!

It only was delivered to Warner so he could take "Emancipation" elsewhere unfettered. It's lack of quality was Prince saying, "You're not gettin' nuthin' from me anymore, WB"!

Prince completists are the only ones who value this collection of scraps.I don't even consider it an "album", per, se. Remember Prince went to the effort at his www.1800newfunk.com website of plastering a big red sign over this album's cover on his Discography that read "Contractual Obligation"?

Prince could take a crap on the ground, put a pink bow on it, package it as new material, and some people on this site will still think it's brilliant. Then they will try to tell you how much of a moron you are cuz you don't think it's brilliant. I could have sworn I heard it was contract filler, too.

Essence

Nice raw feel, some catchy memorable moments, I'm glad it's released rather than laying unheard in the vaults.

Put it on in your car - Its not bad - People like to think that its a contract oblig.
but, most of his albums take at least one song from the past - rejigged.

Tell me - why exactly is it crap -

It's bizarrely ironic that you say this when the start of this thread said "this album meant nothing to the fairweather fans but it had very important messages" - so, how come you did not take issue with this?

This ridiculous statement implies that people who do not like (or even, do not understand!! WTF?!) C&D are not real fans! I'm sorry, but people who appreciate his music have the ability and the right to decide whether or not they like it or whether it is up to the ususally high standard that Prince is capable of when he focusses on the MUSIC!.

Seems to me that you actually just take issue with people who disagree with your own opinion and seem somewhat paranoind about that fact! Nobody is making decisions for you, people are just voicing their opinion, which is why we are here anyway, yes???!!!

HolyWine

In life I have found that when someone is generally excellent at doing something, their "get it done quick I ain't really in the mood" work is still very good. Anyone like that (and we're all like this in one way or another - we all have something we do excellently) can't help but produce well because it's in their soul, so to speak. It's something that they just can't miss with, even when not in their most positive mindset.

IMHO, Prince's music is always always worth listening to - always special and unique -- always something I appreciate. Obviously, I love the man. He's awesome.

There are different "fan-levels" - I don't consider myself a fan; I consider myself a Fam. I will always love and support Prince in all his career endeavors.
