How is that conflicting?

Yes he was (in a way)... and thats what I love about his music.
Prince's music was a struggle between his two sides (he is a gemini) searching for and creating a blend of sex, love, man, woman, God and spirituality.
We followed him on his journey from a boy to man. Dirty mind to The Rainbow children and all in between which was a melting pot of ALL sounds All emotions and many beliefs.
I can relate caus life is not all rainbows and lolly pops. Either is it all dark clouds and lust. his music represented life in actuality... which is a duality of conflicting beliefs, in essence a sort of yin and yang effect. with out light there is no darkness.
as this man came of age.. so did his music and what he represented.
by the way.... weirdos are the best

Religon and Sex are both taboo subjects but entirely different. Most people would not associate someone who talks about God one minute to be the same person who then just starts spewing out all kinds of explicit sexual references.Because God and spirituality are both associated with pureness, which is not what Prince was all about back then with his raunchy image and lyrical content. Not saying that there wasn't a certain innocence to both sides of him but still.
It's like, if you were in church (Assuming that you have a religious affiliation or belief) and the preacher/whatever whoever was giving a sermon and then starts going into detail about how he wants to "fuck the taste" out of his neighbors mouth. Everybody will be like:
It's a contradiction of lifestyles. But then again I could be a raving idiot. ~ You're a desire, I get higher every time I speak your name ~

Prince is smart enough 2 know that all things are on the table............all at once. (At least was "was" smart enough)

It seems as if you start threads just to generate traffic to your thread/this site.
99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

I wouldn't say you're a raving idiot, but I do disagree with you.
You are right in pointing out that (explicit) sexuality would probably be out of place in a church. Most religions would probably condemn such kind of behaviour too. However, where I think your allegory is flawed, the interesting and defining focus of Prince's (early) spirituality was that love and sex are indeed pure. For that to work, we would have to assume that God has nothing to do with "religion" or "church" (which is what I, personally, firmly believe) and is one level above everything earthly (including church).
I know, Prince did stress he was a christian very early on and he did preach about Jesus right form the start, but there was something revolutionary, yet sincere and pure, about his belief.
It's a bold, yet very simple, basic and effective question: why would having hard oral sex be in any way "impure" or "bad"? God gave us these wonderful tools to play around with, so, as long as you love God, God loves you. ("Love is God and God is Love...")

First off Prince is not like TUPAC and if there were some similiarities, Tupac would be like Prince. Secondly Prince contradicts himself only if u look at his career as a whole and not being in the moment. Prince doesn't real contradict himself at one specific time forexample Prince didn't sing about the nasty stuff while he was a jehovahs witness. But he did at one time sing about nasty stuff and now he is a jehovah witness so his present actions might contradict his past actions but at this point thats just called changing or evolution.

So its a conflict if you praise god but also jerk off etc?
Holy rollers still get hard-ons dont they?
they shoot horses dont they?
If anything, back then doing the sacred and profane, it was less hypocritical.

God is God.He made the earth and the heaven. I sincerely wanna fuck the taste outta your mouth Can U relate? Conflict between sex and religion, and grown-ups dressing ridiculously, were at the core of pop/rock music as we know it from its very beginnings. That's part of its appeal and excitement. In that way, P is not only like Tupac (or the other way around, as people have pointed out), but like a long line of rock stars.
