YOU are there! (newsreel) Ok..which 3/two/(only three you muthas) recording sessions do you wish you could have been at.
1. When Doves Cry:That ish with him solo must have been a trip. Especially when he did the vocal. I imagine him doing it in no more than three takes. And watching the guitar solo? Man. And watching him layer the background vocals.
2. We Can Funk (the soft sexy version): Everyone in the rooms in the dark with only candles is how I picture this being recorded.
3 Wally: nuff said
btw does anyone remember the You Are There! newsreels they used ot show in elementary school films? Dis anyone get to run th eprojector? Remember when it would snag and you'd have to hit that button to unsnag it or the film would begin to bunch up? "Climb in my fur."

I loved You Are There.
Geez...only three?
1. Do Me Baby because I want to know if he really did...you know. And also why he's "so cold."
2. The opening sequence of Parade, because he laid down the drums for several tracks all at the same time, so I figure I'd bet a "four-fer" on my favorite album.
3. Alexa de Paris. I think that song is the happiest one he ever wrote. I'd like to see what he was like then. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I was going to have only two but then I wrestled with adding Wallace "Climb in my fur."

1. If I Was Ur Girlfriend - so much happening with that track. Would have loved to see how he put it all together. 2. Crucial - just for the guitar solo 3. Kiss - to see what he started with, what he took out, and how better it really was. Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

I only got one, which is the WHOLE recording session of Dorothy Parker, from the time he played the first note, to how he programmed the drums, to wrapping it up.

Databank. Powerfantastic. Crystal ball. "We just let people talk & say whatever they want 2 say. 9 times out of 10, trust me, what's out there now, I wouldn't give nary one of these folks the time of day. That's why I don't say anything back, because there's so much that's wrong" - P, Dec '15

Don't you know that atoms and particles and everything in existance behaves differently when being observed? It's true! Therefore your presence would have altered the results and perhaps a song like 'when doves cry' would not have come out as good. Now do u really wanna mess with all that?

This has nothing to do with the technical recording process but, for obvious reasons, I would loved to have been a fly on the wall when Prince and Kim Basinger made the Scandalous Sex Suite.
From a technial point of view, sitting in on the La La La, He He Hee and Batdance recording sessions would have been cool.
