IMO every big artist out there should do the same. Before Internet people wasn't always controlled by others opinion. The comments can often form ones opinion. Dev Hynes disables the comment field on his videos too, and let the music speak for itself. Now we can only blame the video and the org, ad well as percentage of likes for manipulating our view.

I agree.

Plus, many of those youtube comments are just plain embarrassing.

I think it was originally just a painting in Paisley Park that Prince himself really liked and chose to use as cover art. Anybody wanna correct me on this one?

The song is perfectly pleasant. I would prefer it as an album track and not a single, however. It reminds me of other no-hook songs such as Reflection or Dear Mr. Man or even Dorothy Parker. The music is effortless. If he wanted a hook he'd have added one. It's a story song, and the lyrics are a hell of a lot better than many Prince offerings.

Hate the glasses.

It's a nice little video for a nice little song. No complaints from me.

I really can't understand the large amount of people being so negative about this song. I really think its very good and one of his most commercial songs in ages. Good video too. Catchy and a bit different for him. I suppose unless he reproduces songs like Kiss, Purple Rain etc some people will never be happy.

Different type of songs convey different types of moods and not everyone is able to connect with every type of a mood. I feel that this song drags a bit too much for me to be able to really connect with it. Maybe if it was just a bit faster and the vocal delivery was different...

I personally don't want Prince to reproduce songs like "Kiss" and "Purple Rain", I would be happier if he reproduced songs like "Rockhard In A Funky Place" and "Girls & Boys" instead (and he sort of has done that with tracks like "F.U.N.K" and "$").

This video is one of Princey's best well done per4mance videos. It shows the concept well of his greatest inspiration these days Andy...Andy has really brought out a different more free happier Prince & one of the best of his protege albums of this decade....This is shaping up to be a well done & thought out project. Can't wait for the rest...

After watching the video again I have to say this is one of Prince's best put together efforts. The single artwork, the photography, the music, it's his most professional work in the longest time. I would have gave that nod to Dreamer, from Lotus, but that effort was marred by horrible packaging artwork and its relation to MPLSound, the absolute worst Prince effort to date. Everything about that project was a disaster save for Lotusflow4r. I have been critical of most of Prince's post 80's work for its cheese factor and corniness, and the lack of cheese and cornball on everything surrounding this effort so far is worthy of praise and worthy of Prince. Having said that, I think that's why some find this effort lacking. Lacking the cornball and cheese of his more recent releases. Some here have become connoisseurs of it. No Candy Cheese 4 U? This song is very restrained. Nothing is in your face. Prince has been guilty of using some cheap tricks for his hooks in the past ten years. This song has no real hook, and therefore, not so much in the way of cheese.

I think it's a little odd that he chose it as a single. But maybe it's just an inticator of the direction he's headed. He always does the unexpected.

But as pointed out by someone, he would have been smart to cover Andy Allo's If I Were King as his new single!

He's been recording the same video now for decades.

It's ok, I guess. Professionally shot.

But the song is so boring that it seems unlikely to generate much buzz. Folks simply don't pay much attention anymore.

If this is something from an forthcoming album, it's an odd choice. But then again, Prince doesnt' know how to choose a single from his own asshole these days.
