Wonderful colours, visuals, style; it just feels like he put some thoughts into the overall appearance and feel of the music/fashion/style combo. It's simply not all over the place, and actually quite tight.

The song is alright, nothing special, but at least it means enough to him to actually record and release a proper (and good) video along with it. I appreciate that a lot.

There's a detail that still irks me (but that's the same with many Prince videos): I find it very destracting if what the musicians play is not in-synch with the actual track, let alone something completely different, let alone if you hear an instrument play but nobody actually plays it (Prince on guitar in this case, for example). I know most studio videos aren't meant to mimick a live performance, but it simply puts emphasis on the bond between a musician and the notes they play if they reproduce it the exact same way as they did when they recorded it.

The People Pleaser video is brilliant at that, for instance. When you look at John, Ida and the horns, everything they do is just so on-point, as if they had recorded the song while recording the video. I love that.

Who cares really, his whole effort is so lame anyway.

nice video. once again, a performance vid, but that's ok. some 'behind the scenes' shots

laced through the regular performance shots.

the feel and atmosphere reminded me of the musicology video.professional looking and

not as cheap as some of his other vids used to look.

no real surprises. if you've seen the pics of the videoshoot, you've already seen most of

what the video has to offer lol

once again had to laugh, seeing the npg music club carpet and the TRC painting biggrin

as far as prince video's go, this one is about a 7 out of 10, i think.

it's amazing how good HD video looks on higher end DSLRs these days eyepop

I read an article about how all of a sudden graphic designers (with a great eye for composition) are picking them up and doing music videos now - well how about that razz

Pretty decent. The song is ok. The video is a little better.

What is purplemusictv?

I checked out the channel and searched a bit but couldn't figure it out.

Are we going to hear the same typically desperate compliments?

"Well, at least it's better than the garbage on top 40 charts."

"At least Prince looks good!"

"I'm sure it'll sound better live."

It's a bad song. It's dull and unimaginative. The best I can say about it is that it isn't embarrassing.

What is going on with the 'HD' video?

Freeze here or there and even the 'good' colour scenes have compression artefacts.

The video itself is nice but not really groudnbreaking.

What is Hannah using?

Who do we see in the intersected grainy scenes?

Let's analyze! biggrin

I will say though that the drummer is extremely camera-friendly and charming.

Of course we cannot link to or inline this promotional video of mr Prince and his band, not even for discussion or educational research?

Did he leave out the 'from the forthcoming album on NPG records entitled `$4 million perfume` out 01.01.2013'?

I agree with Dave1992 about the song and I also noticed the musicians not playing in synch, but overall I really like this video. Basically all Prince's videos are the same-him performing- but hey, that's what he's good at! It has a little bit of that small club feeling especially in the intro, when he was playing two instruments at the same time, just like he did in the Melkweg, so it brought back some good memories too. thumbs up!

I have to admit that I like the song a lot more now than when I first heard it. I'm just wondering if I am getting more used to it, if the mix was a tad better now, or if the video made me accept it more. It's still no classic, but it's stylish and fresh somehow.

Purple Music's FB Page made an official announcement yesterday about the video premiering on You Tube and they're responsible for this tune so linking it etc must all be legit.

I Like the tune, I guess all the Prince fans who think his music died in 1996 will hate it as usual and all those of us who've moved on and like his new stuff will like it.

Andy and the drummer lady look fit as fuck as usual

Played the full song/video a couple of times last night and my official verdict is "its a grower"

Nothing groundbreaking and I wanted Prince to just let rip on a rock and roll guitar solo, or really scream at a couple of points but pleasant enough. I quite like the old school rock and roll/country and western twang to it.

I dont think I'd skip this track if it was on a full album. cool

"I just wish he'd play like he used to, old scraggly head muth' (smack) ouch!" wink

Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

Prince looks so yummy in this video - but the song itself......I dont mind the actual song but I think the delivery is weak? The idea of "rock and roll" to me is loud and boisterous, but Prince sounds like he is almost whispering it - if you know what I mean? I think the song would have really sounded better if it was more rock than ballad sounding?

Video is nice, but predictable - again would have been nice to have told a story? Could have been footage of Prince gigging (well pretending to gig) and travelling ("stripes of the road") and this chick lusting after him and following him, but he leaves her every time to move on to the next gig. The video could really have told a great story as the idea is great in the song - but the delivery is not powerful enough.

Prince does look handsome in it though.

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

Yep, the mix does indeed sound better. That might be just due to the original streamed version being compressed for whatever bandwidth, size reduction, internet radio broadcast reasons. They haven't necessarily done any further work on the track itself.

In any case, the version on Youtube is more pleasant to listen to and helps quite a bit with the sentiment of "blandness" that I, among many others, thought the track suffered from. The guitar, the synths and the horns cut through in an improved manner and the bass has more punch to it.

It's cool to hear that the track idoes indeed have some of the same warmth that the Andy Allo tracks have. thumbs up!

I.e.: we can post it here if we can convince the same mods that have not yet communicated well enough about even discussing leaked videos on certain bandmembers' FailBook pages.

IMO every big artist out there should do the same. Before Internet people wasn't always controlled by others opinion. The comments can often form ones opinion. Dev Hynes disables the comment field on his videos too, and let the music speak for itself. Now we can only blame the video and the org, ad well as percentage of likes for manipulating our view.

The cool thing about this song IMO is that he doesn't try too hard, and the more subtle build up and climax where he sound like he is about to scream, but rather goes for a careful hint at something that he used to do, as well as a tasty little falsetto touch at the end of the build up I'd to me fresh! It's a rare thing for me to hear somebody do something as minimalistic as that in such a grown, mature and confident way. He doesn't need to scream to prove to us that he can.
