Thats what we assume. Nobody else has come up to say they purchased one. Some folks got some free ones though.

Nouveaux riche dude no doubt.

Money can buy many things, but not taste. It was an overpriced rip off, a 4 year out of date Ipod with one mediocre Prince recording on it that was available in the usual book. For the price, the Ipod should have at least had all of his released studio albums on it too and a video copy of the Hits as well.

I followed it for a while, but yeah $2000 for that wasn't happening. But pretty much all artists sell Opus around $2000 or more. Michael Jackson was the only artist ever to make it fan affordable with $200 because he wanted as many real fans as possible to have it. I wish Prince would've done something more affordable.

I meant the one recording being the Indigo nights album rather than one song. Did it have more than that? I have forgotten, I remember it being hyped back in 09, but heard little more since then.

It contained the only officially released footage of the 21 Nights shows. Maybe 20 or 40 min vid icr

There have been several that have shown up on e-bay the past few months. The hang up was that they would only ship to certain areas. They are out there and way lower than the original $2K price tag.

As for the 43 minute video on the IPod, there were official (yes official) DVDs that were made to promote the book and opus that were recently sold on e-bay. Same vid featured on the IPod, I have one, the video is not bad but suffers from bad editing.Brilliant collectable.

Forgot to add that a lot which has been seen has come without the IPod as well.

Actually...I had the U2 iPod and it did not come with the catalog on it. As I recall (this was a long time ago), purchase gave you the opportunity to buy the catalog at a special price (or some such).

I bought that particular iPod because I liked that it was black and red (all other iPods at the time were white), but did not drop another googob on the U2 music. lol

The thing died exactly two years later - right on schedule. disbelief

The KISS book is 4 grand not $15,000. A friend of a friend bought one, and after looking thru it with gloves on, in my opinion I dont think it was worth $200. Good idea but very poor execution and way too over an inflated price point.

I saw the video and laughed out loud.

I was shocked he wasn't more upset.

There were no jewels on the symbol that came with the box.

It was a plainly painted symbol.

So, you were paying for a painted iPod with a video and a few other things, but nothing that could have come close to matching value for dollar.

The Opus to me is only offensive in the fact that it wasn't nearly worth the money it charged. The fact that it was 2,000 bucks didn't bother me---it was never meant to be a mass consumer item.

Saying its a colossal rip off is an understatement. Seriously, these cost like $2000 each and god only knows how much for $1. You have an Ipod worth maybe $150 and a book of dubious (under $50) values, the rest is hype. Maybe $20 for the CD of music, but production costs are closer to one dollar per disc.

I mean to put all of his Warners official albums and his recent ones on the Ipod would cost at tops $600 (Assuming you pay full price for every album of about $20 -$25), but in reality, most of his albums are mid priced ($15) at best and some like Emancipation and Come you could not give away to most music consumers. If the Ipod was too small, get a larger capacity one for a few bucks extra.

Even if they wanted to be scroogy they could just put on the Hits or the Ultimate Prince.

Not rocket science to work out, Opus and Prince got rich off these motherfxxkers.
