nope. your book will never see the light of day because someone else will steal it before you've even finished writing it, release it to the internet for free, and then prince will sue those folks. keep the faith!
seriously? i don't know. maybe you'll be sued, maybe ot

Hopefully, then you could write the sequel about getting sued!

I wouldn't have thought so. Have any of the biographies and books out there had official agreement. Even if one or two had not all can of and I don't recall the writers of any of them being sued - and I'd have thought the authors woulda made a penny or two! Tell us about ur book? Just your experiences or stories and anecdotes from others too? Sounds interesting - straight non-fiction or fictive passages? I'd hope u weren't sued! Happy writing. Answer - no.
But XxAxX's post brings up a good point. Before even pondering whether you'll get sued, you ought to consider whether you'll even get any money or credit for creating anything nowadays! Look at The Vault, and so many other books and creations getting ripped off and passed around for free. Stephen King tried allowing his book on the internet and relying on a honor system for people to pay for it; didn't work. People just want it for free, even if they enjoyed it, without a thought for the artist who endeavored to create it. Everybody seems to love how easy, and free, it is now to get so much entertainment (whether books, videos, artwork images, music, etc.), while at the same time lamenting the glut of lowered quality of creative works compared to 10 years ago. Ironic.

not long ago on this topic. i got to shouting at folks about the wrong and right of stealing andy allo's new album and uploading it to the internet before it's released and so now folks don't like me any more on this subject. i still think there has to be an honor system. i'd have paid for stephen king's book gladly online, except that i actually rpefer the analog version, as in paperback. but that's another topic anyway

Good luck with it. | |

um, is the supposed to be ironic? you're basically describing the process of bootlegging music--arguably prince's biggest pet pieve--and appllying it to the written word. not trying to defend prince, just thought you had an interesting way of phrasing it.

Anybody can sue anyone for anything, so take your chances.
I'm not a lawyer, but it seems to me that your personal experiences can't be the subject of a lawsuit as long as: (1) they are true; and (2) you didn't sign a non-disclosure agreement concerning any interaction with people mentioned in your book.
But again, anyone can sue anyone else for anything.

Yes, you can write whatever you want, because you are free, but "your freedom stops whenever the freedom of the other one starts..", keep in mind that you'll need to get all the Rights and authorisations to write any word that was already said from another one already.. sure, if you've posted this matter means that your project has already started..go for it..nowadays, it needs to be a very, very good book in order to be released and therefore be successful..otherwise, it's worthless. First, will Prince approve, as he's "touchty", it might tickle him Lol Lol, I laugh 'cause I am imagining Prince being tickled and jerking as a fool..lol We make our own way to heaven everyday
