Is every Camille track just total kick ass genius?

Had my pod set on the Camille section [c20 tracks] for a loooooong journey. Dayum, every single one is just a work of pure genius. Camille strikes me as bisexual, funky freak who should be best friends with Aladin Sane! I bow to the majesty of this creature! - every track just kills it.

Highlights:

Scarlet Pussy 12" mix

Cindy C

Housequake

Lalalaheeheehee [12" mix]

Love or $ [12" mix]

Rebirth of the Flesh

When 2 R in love

F.U.N.K.

Shockadelica

& all the rest!!

Camille is the original fancy lesbian

Don't forget Feel U Up. Song is a masterpiece with a lot of double meanings. Don't think it gets it's due on the org

I think he just found out how to tweak his voice. Played with the buttons in the studio and liked it.

Do people count Good Love as a Camille job?

IIWYG's a lovely Camille too, etc. etc...

yeah i wish Prince, even today, would release a Camille album just to switch it up. I don't think I dislike any of her/his/its songs.

I quibble with some of the tracks you're labelling Camille, but: yeah, pretty much.

Completely agree -- Camille songs are the jam ... but ...

Allow me to play devil's advocate.

Sometimes I wish there was a normal-pitch vocal version of some Camille songs. Why? Mainly because then they could be played to greater effect at parites amd in other froup settings (picnics, radio, BBQs, etc.) and therefore provide more opportunities to enjoy them. Take Housequake. It's a masterful jam, but I've never heard it played at a party or on the radio. I tried playing at an outdoor party once and the reaction was wtf, with the exception of 2 other serious prince fans. Now if there was a normal-pitch vocal version I think it would be played a lot more, which means I can enjoy it more. So I could go for 2 versions of each track.

They're not, but neither are FUNK, Love or Money, etc. At least the Black Album is credited to Camille in the Lovesexy tourbook linernotes, so they're more Camille tracks than the aforementioned I guess.

Stevie Wonder did this way back in 1972 on Maybe Your Baby. I swear every time I hear that song, I think of Prince/Camille.

Now here's a thing. Are we all 100% agreed what tracks should be Camille or not..it would appear not. In my book all Black Album tracks are, I wish u heaven parts 1,2 & 3 are, all the funky SOTT B-sides are..in fcat anything with the helium voice is. Hmmm!!

We'll never all agree to that i'm afraid. If we're talking about tracks actually credited to Camille, that'd be the Camille Album + Scarlet Pussy & U got the Look.

The rest are tracks with 'Camille style' vocals.

People have their own varying degree of what is classed as a Camille track. I wish U Heaven is clearly attributed to Prince, while the BSide is clearly attributed to Camille.

As for the Black album, well it's not very Camille-y is it, apart from the reused track? That said, the artwork style for the black album is later used on Camille's 'Scarlet Pussy'. Part of me thinks that Prince was attempting a 'good/bad' double A side theme with that single. Perhaps that was the original intention with all Lovesexy singles, but it didn't happen.... Which would add more fuel to the belief that the Black Album was intentionally leaked by Prince.

blah blah blah

we need to get out more!! lol. My theory is if it's helium based then it hits the Camille section. All those trax just kill and have that touch of mad genius / funk around them.

BEAUGARDE

Camille had 2 albums, the unrelesed self-titled (which mostly went to Sign O' The Times, Shockadelic is the B-side to If I Was Girlfriend, Good Love went to the soundtrack Bright Lights, Big City) & the The Black Album which has When 2 R In Love & Cindy C. Some of the songs mentioned like Love or Money & La, La, La, He, He, Hee aren't credited to Camille but if I was to make CD I would include them & other Camille sounding songs like Erotic City & Mad Sex just for the fun of it.

would we also class 3121 as Camille. I don't buy the post WB era as not being Camille. 3121 is freaky and funky and fits!.
