Prince's unimaginative album titles

Thought that struck me earlier today - Prince is a bit unimaginative with his album titles for himself and his various side projects...

The evidence:

Prince - Prince
The Time - The Time
Vanity 6 - Vanity 6
Apollonia 6 - Apollonia 6
The Family - The Family
Jill Jones - Jill Jones
Carmen Electra - Carmen Electra

Even the ones he didn't have much input into:

Mazarati - Mazarati
Shiela E - Shiela E

If I would release an album, my first, I would call it 'The Very Best Of' or 'Greatest Hits' or 'The Essential #1 hits'...

i have a feelin that sometimes its not about a fancy name or bright colors... i mean u step outside everyday and think yeah yeah yeah just another ordinary day but 2 some people the step outside and see all sorts of colors and small things regular eyes dont see... sorry 4 gettin a lil 2 deep but my main point is that with prince its often the music that speaks more than the title... maybe thats 1n of the reasons he changed his name 2 a symbol and rarely does interviews huh? lol

Soul II Sould did just that. Their first album is called "Club Classics Volume 1".

I don't see where you're coming from, dude!

Most artists have a self titled album, crap, the so-called "White Album" is actually called "The Beatles", Madonna's first album is called "Madonna", and so on...

I think early albums need so sell the artist, so you self-title the sucker. Only when you have some success can you get outlandish, cause the public already knows who you are and will go along with your bullcrap! Then you can get freaky:

"Rave un2 the Joy Fantastic"? What kinda akward title is that? "Un2"? It's creative!

"Newpower Soul"? What kind of soul is "Newpower Soul"? Thats a new concept!

"Rainbow Children"? Don't be tellin' me that didn't give you imagery, pardner!

"0-)->": you can't even pronounce that one, bro! Or maybe you can, I can't! Not even a word!

Dig?

I agree in entirety.
