It's amazing that they are trying to imitate even the band members from the era.

even if it was something that broke the org rules, such a video could not be legally claimed to be owed or controlled by prince as he was in a public place and thus had NO expectation of privacy. Copyright would belong to 1) whoever filmed it or 2) the one that owned the most original copy.

I doubt he would do that today, as if he did there would be 100 videos of it! (each one would have its own copyright)

just because prince doesn't as you say know fuck all about the law dose't mean he can not (as he did here) bully people to give in to his demands. I know FULL WELL prince's idiocy (heaving been threaded for a parody and a slanderous work). I was well within the my legal rights but I too caved.

I meant to say he has no legal bases to do so. Again I am talking about videos or photos taken at public places. Under US Copyright law, the video belongs to the person the filmed it. Prince has NO legal grounds to force it via the courts. I think you are miss understanding me. I am not talking about a performance of a song at a concert. But if he was at wal mart buying purple frubys and I film it, Prince could not claim ownership. Even if he could convince websites to not host it. He would not have a legal case.
