Muse's version of Sign 'O The Times

I don't usually like cover versions of Prince's songs but what do you think of Muse's version of Sign 'O The Times? I thought it was really cool and raw! While on the topic of people covering Prince songs, I also really liked Tori Amos' piano + vocal version of Purple Rain.

I liked Muse's cover. Earlier today I heard Dead Or Alive's cover of Pop Life. That cover's also pretty cool.

I like it, but nothing is better than Prince performing that song, Prince puts more emotion into it, Muse has this one facial expressiong of DEATH, that annoys the hell out of me. Nothing, and I mean nothing, can beat Prince facial expressions, when he gets into a song!

I suppose I can appreciate the effort, but in the end it's just a total misunderstanding of what the song is musically about. To me it just functions as evidence that bands like Muse really need their huge guitar walls and all kinds of effects to thicken their overall sound. A minimalist song like "Sign O The Times" should have been the last song they should have tried to cover. I don't hate it, but it's pretty sad if Muse fans think it's "better than the original".

Don't really like it too much. Definitely doesn't top the original nor was I expecting it to. I just don't feel anything special in this cover.

I like the new "rock" version by Muse.

But of course Prince's original is a classic and is so much better.

Also:

Prince could easily make a "rock" version himself, if he wanted to.
