Prince and the ??? Now, we all know his live band from around '82 to '86 was the Revolution and since 1990, he's called them the New Power Generation. Never did know if the band from '87 to '89-'90 had a name or not ...
They've officially been the NPG ever since 1990, regardless of line-up, which imo got old about 12 years ago.
So, to make a splash and kick up some new interest, imagine Prince needs a new name for his live band -
What would you call them?
Prince and the ??? ?
The name that first springs to my mind is - Prince and the Imaginarium Spirit Orchestra (ISO) -
Coming to 2 u straight from the Imaginarium - kind of cosmic, like wow
Now obviously, there could be snarky answers to this like Prince and the New Power Revolution, Prince and the Band and Prince and his Current Hired Session Musicians

, and imo it suits his jazzy, spiritual/ cosmic live sound since 2002, especially when playing with Renato Neto and John Blackwell. Could also be a cool concept name for any new website he may decide to create (if he ever returns to having a major web presence anyway).
, but genuine, creative ideas would be cool.

The Superconductors I do like ISO though The band does need a new name. I never did get NPG, the concept didn't gel for me. Prince and the New Power Soul would have been cool. When he first referenced New Power Soul on Lovesexy, it invoked for me this amazing vision of music he would soon be unleashing. But it didn't come to pass the way I imagined. It's ok though. Sure, some of them are in for awhile, but... Andy Allo is a sure fire bet to be next to go, and maybe we will get a "Rock N' Roll Ex Girlfriend."
It is really dumb that he keeps using the "NPG" title.
When Revolution reunion fever was high a few years back, when Prince still had a website, he posted: "Revolutions only happen 1ce."
