Has anyone ever heard the original bass line 2 "When Doves Cry"?

I was messing around the studio a while back trying 2 come up with a bass line 2 the song When Doves Cry. Nothing really seemed 2 work. Has anyone ever heard any part of that original bass line that was removed from the song?

Isnt the one Brown Mark played in the Prince & The Revolution Live what it would be? Thats how I always imagined it.

That bass line reminds me of 17 days a little (for some strange reason).

It's WAAAY better without the bassline Brown Mark played. I have a much cooler bassline I've put together or it, but it's a tough one. The kick drum is so big it makes it hard to have a bass fit.

Is that the same bass line he played with Rosie Gaines on the Nude Tour? Thats how I always imagined it.

There are some good rehearsels from the lovesexy tour where the song has a great bass line!

Marcus Miller has a video of 1 his music clinics where he goes in2 WDC u should check out..i've tried 2 play 2 it also after i heard he took out the bass, but everytime i hear it i feel lyke he took it outta there 'cause it got in the way. do u think that if he left it in there it would be the same song? every bass line i tried 2 imagine made it sound like Midnight Star's "No Parking On The Dance Floor" lol

though I've never heard this happen, I've heard that some dj at my local oldies station (98.1 kiss fm) would sometimes mix in the bass line from erotic city

I can't lie and say that I've ever heard the original, deleted bass, but the best live addition, for my taste, had to be from Levi on the Sign O The Times tour. Brownmark's was damn good, too!

I've never really heard a bass line included in the -verse/chorus- parts, just the extended jamming in "part 2". Kinda the same deal with "Kiss". Bass only in the extended, 'part 2'.

Jam your own, Graycap!!!

Prost!

I think that the way that it is rehearsed with the bass line on the live bootleg rehearsal cd called 17 days live is actually the way that the bassline sounded....I know because I heard it when my uncle bought the cd back in the early 90's from a place called collectors world that sold a lot of Prince bootlegs.
