4ever in my life/Act of God I saw where Prince combined "Forever in my Life" with "Act of God" and it spurred emotions that I would say were disappointment. Such a beautiful song about love and then he combines it with Act of God a song dealing with the taxes. If Prince didn't have such a bad history of paying his bills and taxes , maybe I could believe that this was truly about people losing their houses when they just can't afford to pay their taxes. But this song comes from Prince's own anger of paying his fair share in taxes. Reminds me of the "Lady Cab Driver" line, "this one's for the rich, not all of them, just the ones that don't know how to give." Compare to a song such as "Free" where he knows freedom isn't free in it's truest form. Men and women die everyday for America's freedom and to compare paying taxes as not being free...Someone has changed with all of his millions... Don't get me wrong, I know that Prince donates to charities but he also has an obligation to pay taxes. So much that we enjoy, comes from the collection of taxes. I'm in the Air Force and I've gone off to war, been shot at and I pay taxes. I'm just upset that he would combine "Forever in my life" with "Act of God". He should remember his younger self..."Be glad that U are free, many a man who's not."

Besides being a completely brilliant performance (Berlin 20Ten for those interested), I think saying Act of God is about not paying taxes is a stretch. Whatever you may think of Prince's religious believes (they're not mine either) , Act Of God is more of a complaint against/ observation of the (then) current state of affairs in the world and the USA in particular and the blatent mis-use of God as an excuse for unethical behaviour
just my 2 cents.... | |

I always saw Act Of God as being about the rules of 'the man'. Governments saying what you got to do, nothing to do with the word of god. At the end singing, call it what you want except an act of god. RIP
