What sucked about last night...

First the obvious... The lead guitar volume was too low, therefore spoiling what may have made the performance of the new song great, instead of just good, from an enjoyment pov...

But most of all, what I found utterly disturbing is, that ABC showed a NINE-MINUTE BLOCK of commercials b4 Prince came on. NINE F...ING MINUTES! And as a result, we only got one minute of "Dance Electric," and I think that just sucks!

Other than that it was cool...

A "Rock n Roll Affair"

The Jimmy Kimmel Live studio couldn't hope to contain Prince, so when the rock great stopped by the show last night, he performed to a large, enthusiastic crowd on the outside stage. Dressed in orange-yellow pants and a wildly patterned shirt with impressive dangling tassels, Prince played his new single "Rock & Roll Love Affair" with absolute joy, sneaking in a few grins as he stomped through the funky, horn-blaring track. He calls it an affair, but almost 35 years after his first album, it might be a little more serious than that.

I so agree with you. I loved Prince's performance, but Andy's performance with Maceo and John Blackwell was so exciting. It was so totally worth the wait....and to see these premiere performances for free was wonderful. excited

You folks should learn how o read between the lines a little better. This post in NOT negative to Prince. I thought he was great; and to those of u who were there, that's awesome...

But at home, the experience fell way short because whoever mixed sound was sub-par... PERIOD.

And that 9-minute run of ads took up time where those of us at home could have enjoyed more... Done.

I think on another thread someone said a video of Dance Electric was going to be posted on the Jimmy Kimmel website later...

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

Peter is right, the guitar was too low in the mix when it was broadcast. At least on TV it was. Maybe in person it came through better.

It's a little better on the Kimmel website video, but as another poster said, Prince was having guitar troubles later on with "Take Me With U" so I'm guessing he has a new sound guy today.
