Firstly, you claim you "care about prince's rights...". What about P's right to own his own masters from the Warner Bros. years? Do you own any of these Warners albums. Unlike bootlegs, they're legally available, but don't think that by legally buying and owning them you're supporting "prince's rights". Though P does gets money from these albums, he still thinks he's being ripped off. Did you buy any of these albums since the "Slave" dispute? Do you think new fans should avoid these albums because it's not fair to Prince? Also, do you own a (legitimate) copy of the Black album? Legal and rightous it may be, but you said "a true fan is someone who respects the artist's wishes." Prince sent a message in the Alphabet St. video, specifically "don't buy the black album." Did you buy it? Wasn't it a blast. As for bootlegs, there's no other way to get hold of this material. Same with the Warners albums. Most people would happily pay good money for unreleased stuff (see "Crystal Ball") and we'd all be thrilled if Prince got the rights to his masters back and remastered all the Warner's albums. Cuz the quality does vary. But true fans have a thirst for previously unheard stuff. And so much of it is so damn good to our ears. I agree that the Bootlegers are wrong, but I am not wrong for buying them ( my opinion ). He doesnt lose any money from my purchase's, he just doesnt make more ( And we all no he's short of cash ). And I understand that the recordings are stolen and Blaa-Blaa, but thier just so Damn good! I understand most of your postings but some things just seem like your trying to piss people off. The only way I will stop buying them is if they stop making them. I guess Im not a fan.
