u know a lot of peple crticized prince in the 90's cause they wanted him 2 stay in that purple rain phase.. but i heard him say in an interviwe with chris rock on vh1 in 96' or 97' that purple rain was an era and i belived that cause i saw the sequel graffiti bridge and the minnealpolis depicted in 84' was a totally different place... the other thing i noticed was that jimi hendrix lenny kravitz sting and eric clapton all went thru the same thing... after he set fire 2 and smashed his guitar at the monterey pop festival in 67' people wanted him 2 stay that same guy and that killed him cause he wanted 2 evolve.. same 4 sting and lenny kravitz.. they were expectin sitng 2 still be a punk rocker when he went solo after the police but he showed he was a versatile bass player... the u had critics callin lenny mr retro but id they really dug in2 his albums after mama said theyd see that he evolved and did some brilliant music...rockers of england were taggin "clapton is a god" on the wall 4 years but after he cleaned himself out of drugs at pete townshend's rainbow concert he was a different guy.. he didnt wannna be that same guitar hero 4ever cause heros& legends dont last long people do...
