Great vocals in studio but lacking live

Which songs have great vocals on studio recordings but lacks when Prince sings it live? Not because Prince can't bring it live ,because he is either bored or not focused. My choice The Beautiful Ones -the version on the Purple Rain tour were really bad, especially the screaming part, but he executed it great on 1993 and Musicology tours. When U Were Mine-early versions of the songs along with Lovesexy were full of passion but after 1989 everytime he performs the vocals lack any emotion Purple Rain-i hate when he starts this classic and drags the word Sorrow pronauncing it sarrroooouuu. Guitar is always hot on it but singing is not,but i must admit on the 20ten W2A tour when he tried to replicate the feel of the original he really executed.

I don't get it...lacking live, but than you start to name all live versions which you think sounded good....so it's not studie vs. live....it's live vs. live...or? I'm confused. wall

Prince is a great singer, the reason his singing is not that good on some songs can relate to a lack of interest ,for example he usually don't sing so great on the Beautiful ones but sometimes he nails it.that is why i mentioned good versions also.

Ok, I thought the topic was songs that sounded great in the studio, but not so good live.

If it sometimes sounds live good, the topic doesn't make much sense, doesn't it?

It would be more like which songs does he sometimes perform live very well and sometimes not, but I guess you can say that about every song than...so i'm still confused lol

Oh yes it does have sense for example When U Were Mine sounds shitty since 1989. Which songs have great vocals in studio but they sound not so good live

"If I Was Your Girlfriend" - I wouldn't say that his vocals sound bad live, but the studio verison heavily benefits from the "Camille" effect with the distorted vocals. Obviously, he can't replicate that effect live so the song sounds a lot different when he sings it. However, he more than makes up for it with the music because that song is a groove live.
