A Million Days

Initial recording dates are unknown,

but engineer H.M. Buff has stated that the song was recorded in 1995 at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA.

It is not known if the track was considered for use on any other project prior to Musicology.

A million days

It's only been a hour since U left me
But it feels like a million days
If Eye had a magic wand eye could turn back time
Eye'd never let U go away

Eye didn't have the heart 2 say eye'm sorry
Now eye haven't got a heart at all
Eye could tolerate the pain if eye could talk 2 my best friend
But U won't even call

Eye'm contemplating pulling out my suitcase
And packing everything eye own
Eye didn't back then but eye do know now
Wherever U r is home
Eye'll crawl on my belly and beg U
But Ur so far away
U've only been gone 4 an hour
But it seems like a million days

It's only been a hour since U left me
Eye wish eye had somebody 2 blame
But Ur the perfect picture of what love should look like
And eye wanna b Ur frame
It's only been a hour but it feels like a million days

A million days
One hundred thousand million days
Come home, come home baby
Eye can't take this no more
Well, come home baby oh yeah
Baby, eye know eye shouldn't put my faith in heroes
But eye can't c U any other way
It's only been a hour since U left me girl
Feels like a million, feels like a million days

Come home baby

ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
$120 for 'Prince in Hawaii Gift Box'

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Prince sold out every show on his nationwide "Musicology" tour except for a Blaisdell Arena concert in 2003.

But that hardly means the man's got no love for Hawai'i fans. It'll cost you, though. The "Prince in Hawaii Gift Box," available only at his online NPG Music Club, sets you back $120. But check what you get: A 142-page hardcover "Prince in Hawaii" book documenting his stay, a Hawai'i tour book and T-shirt, a CD single of "Controversy" recorded live here, a poster and (here's why we really want it) "Play In The Sunshine" custom-blended incense.

No surprise, it arrives in a royal purple gift box.

See www.npgmusicclub.com for more information.

That was a great era! I saw him live four times in 2004 (including Reno, NV, the first show of the Musicology tour). Great shows, and just a real nice vibe for the whole year.

Don't forget, Rhonda was featured on the cover of Bass Player magazine in June 2004.

Prince reunites with old friends at Essence Fest

Star joined by Sheila E., Wendy, the Time in five-hour jam session

updated 7/5/2004 2:03:30 PM ET
Anniversaries often bring reunions. And to mark the 20th anniversary of “Purple Rain,”
Prince reunited with some of the players in his musical past — Morris Day and The Time, guitarist Wendy Melvoin and former protege Sheila E.

“This hasn’t been done like this in a long time,” said veteran musician Larry Graham, who performed at Friday’s Essence Music Festival show at the Superdome in New Orleans. “This is just right on time.”

Prince’s show, the kickoff to the three-day annual concert festival in the city, was a five-hour party attended by 50,000 people, the largest crowd for a concert in the festival’s 10-year history.

The show started out on a bizarre note — Prince, onstage in a disguise of a straight-haired wig, hat and beard, playing the guitar on inline stakes as relatively unknown performers danced or sang around him. The most famous person to come on stage at that point was Graham, formerly of Sly and the Family Stone and Graham Central Station.

Then, the mysterious figure onstage announced Sheila E., and the audience erupted in cheers as she ran through her 1984 hit “The Glamorous Life.”

Day and the Time, billed as the opening act to Prince, emerged later. Day, who starred with Prince in the groundbreaking film version of “Purple Rain,” joined his preening sidekick Jerome as they sang old hits like “The Bird” and “Cool.”

Prince didn’t hit the stage until nearly 11 p.m., but the crowd didn’t seem to mind — middle-aged women squealed like schoolgirls and young men barely older than Prince’s 25-year career bounced up and down as he performed classics like “Little Red Corvette,” “Controversy” and “Adore,” as well as material from his most recent album, “Musicology.”

Sheila E. rejoined her former mentor onstage to perform along side him on “A Love Bizarre” and other tunes, while Melvoin — who along with keyboardist Lisa Coleman were simply referred to as Wendy & Lisa in his old Revolution band — also sat in with his New Power Generation band.

Other surprise guests included Chaka Khan, who joined Prince to sing “I Feel For You” — a cover of his song that she made a monster hit in the 1980s; and old school rapper Doug E. Fresh.

The high-energy show ended on an emotional note as Prince performed “Purple Rain” and spotlighted drummer John Blackwell, whose 2-year-old daughter, Jia, accidentally drowned just days earlier. An emotional Blackwell pointed to the image of his little girl on his T-shirt, as Sheila E. embraced him and the band walked off the stage.

In 2004 Candy Dulfer joined Prince for the massive Musicology Tour, playing over ninety shows in sell-out arenas across the USA to over 1.5 million excited fans. Prior to the Musicology Tour she performed with Prince and Beyoncé at the prestigious Grammy Awards and also performed with Prince at Jay Leno’s ‘Tonight Show’. She also featured prominently - with sax and vocals - on Prince’s hit album ‘Musicology’, including the smashing duet ‘Life of the party’.

This is the life o’ the party
We gonna do it right

So Ur havin’ a party?
Goody 4 U
All the beautiful people gonna b there?
Yeah, that’s cool
U know Ur gonna have a good time cause U got the news
That the life o’ the party is gonna party with U

We’re doing our own thing
Until the sun’ll come up
Sweet Candy gonna b there
Yeah, it’s gonna b rough
She ain’t got no off switch
And neither do eye
When U read it in the paper 2morrow
U gonna hang Ur head and cry

We gonna have us a party
All r welcome 2
We ain’t down with nobody
That don’t party like we do
Once we get it started
We got 2 go all night
This is the life of the party
We gonna do it right

Why party in your own yard
When U can party in mine?
All the beautiful people gonna b there
Puttin’ the “I” in fine
Throw the records out my window
CD’s out the door
Might as well give it 2 the milkman
We don’t want it no more

Everybody can smell this funk y’all
Down in Altanta GA
Everybody, even Dre and Em, know it’s OK
Hey, we don’t need any trippin’ y’all on this special day
We just callin’ 2 let U know
U better not come if U can’t stay

[Chorus]

What’s it gonna take 2 get Ur booty soakin’ wet?
U and me closer baby, that’s a bet

Eye’m the life of the party
As long as eye got your body
Shakin like a leaf on a tree
Cutie come dance with me
U and me, we got mad chemistry
Don’t it make U wanna holler?
Come with the life of the party, y’all
We’re still makin dollars
25 years 2 life
The judge sentenced me 2 hard labor with a knife
Making cuts 4 y’all
Keeping the party packed and wall 2 wall
Eye don’t care what they say
“He don’t play the hits no more
plus eye thought he was gay”

But it ain’t nothing if it ain’t fun
My voice is getting higher
and Eye ain’t never had my nose done
That’s the other guy
All the purple hippies bang your head on the 1

LOVE A Million Days, it is my favourite song from the cd, should have been released as a single, especially since a video was filmed for it!!!

Call My Name" is a song by Prince, from his 2004 album Musicology. The song won the Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance in 2005.

Although it was not commercially released as a single, it received enough radio airplay to reach #75 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #27 on the R&B chart. A music video for the song was filmed as well.

The song was most likely recorded during The Rainbow Children sessions, as Kip Blackshire sings backing vocals on the track.

Call My Name

Call it, call my name {x2}

Heard your voice this morning callin' out my name
It had been so long since I've heard it
That it didn't really sound quite the same, no
But it let me know that my name
Had never really been spoken before
Before the day I carried U through the bridal path door

And ever since that day I haven't wanted anyone but U
And anybody who really knows me knows the truth
That, uh...

CHORUS:
I just can't stop writing songs about U
I love U so much
I just can't wait 2 get my arms around U
And feel your touch
If I don't see U real soon, baby girl
I might go insane
I know it's only been 3 hours
But I love it when U call my name

Yes I do

Heard a voice on the news sayin' people want 2 stop the war (Stop the war)
If they had a love as sweet as U they'd forget what they were fighting 4
What's the matter with the world 2day?
Land of the free? Somebody lied
They can bug my phone, and peep around my home
They'll only see U and me making love inside

CHORUS
(Ooh, love, love, love, love)
(I can't wait, get my arms...)
(Feel your touch, yes)
(If I don't see U soon, drive me crazy)
(Call it)

Ahh, call my name {x2}

Never seen the moon look so lovely as the night I saw it with U
It let me know I'd never seen the moon before (Never seen the moon before)
So many speak of the moon as though it had no flaws
But 2 compare it 2 a beauty like yours would give one pause

Nothing about U is false, that's why your love is real
That's why your love is real (Talkin' about real love)
God forbid if U belonged 2 another I'd have 2 steal U (I've got 2 take U from your man)
I might be tempted 2 break the law 'round here (Break the law 'round here)
Because your beauty, it gives one pause (Right, yes it does)
It slows me down

CHORUS
(I... love U so much)
(Arms around U, feel your touch)
(Go insane)
(My name)

Honey, would you call it, (call it) call my name
Yeah
Call, call my name
(Prince)
That's right
And I... (Call my name)

Prince was ending the highly successful Musicology Live 2004ever tour at the time of the single's release. The Call My Name video was played often on the tour, and Prince played the song live on a number of occasions also. -PrinceVault
