Hello wonder. I can see your point but it doesn't occur to me to question the reason anyone is here. Let me take that back: I have scratched my head at those who let those few people ruin their time here and wonder if those people are so miserable here why they don't leave? No one ruins my experience.

Personally, I most enjoy the Japanese sections, not that I understand any of it, I just prefer the way it looks aesthetically. It's just my personal opinion.

I have been a fam, and I have been a basher. Sometimes I can be equal parts of both on any given day, if the mood is right.

I agree with Stymie that the big bashers, the really obnoxious ones, are easily ignored, and it would be better for everyone if they were ignored. Luckily, there are really only a handful of those. And they're very easy to pick out, because they aren't pissed off at Prince; they're pissed off at you. They are shocked--shocked!--that anyone could still be a huge Prince fan in this day and age with everything that we now know.

Ehh some people cant stand criticism of someone they adore I guess. I mean once the bar is raised it won't be lowered for most people, criticism is natural and not uncalled for.

Dentists are the evil ones. I myself have witnessed such cloud-placement devil worship. Whether or not it's ever a nice thing to poo on someones parade is a very contentious hot potato. So to speak. I've been on this site for 8 years now, but I rarely stop by here anymore. The main reason is exactly what novabrkr describes. There's always been criticism for Prince's more recent output on prince.org, but at the same time, there were also mature discussions where you could learn something and got interesting opinions to read. I rarely find these discussions anymore, but only the constant blabla about how shitty Princey-boy has become. It's tired, and it's lame.

Having said this, enjoy your life! I'm out again.

I don't Hate Prince whatsoever. I just hate things that he's done. I've said the guy is an asshole [it's pretty damn obvious], but it's undeniable that he's made some really really great music. I believe Prince has always been an asshole from the beginning of his real success, but he was just so damn good in the 80's that the fans let it slide. But once the good music starts to become more & more sparse, the "assholery" becomes more & more apparent. Prince owes me nothing....nor does he owe anybody else anything. He does whatever he wants, & that's fine. I do what I want too [@ least from what's in my means @ the moment ], so it's my choice to not support him, until I am given a real reason too again.

But a basher can't really be proven "wrong" or forced to accept "truth" because in the end it's all subjective opinion.

Most Prince claims like the ones you cited can't be proven as fact or absolute truth by either side. I do understand what you're saying about the need to present/argue your version of the truth.

But this is where the anti-bashing argument always falls apart -- the idea that "bashers" are just essentially and absolutely wrong and others are arrogantly right. But objectively they can't be. Each side can only have their opinions.
