Prince Attends Esperanza Spalding Show @ State Theater

Prince Attended the Esperanza Spalding Show @ State Theater on sunday night and judging by his response he was just as blown away by Esperanza as the rest of the crowd. Incredible show! Definitely see a colaboration between these 2 in the not so distant future

Now if someone can post a photo of them standing next to each other people can spend the next six months insisting that Prince is boning her.

We saw her at Ravinia this summer and she was pretty great.

Pretty sure it's in Minneapolis.

I would really like to see her. I'm not too keen on her latest album though, I prefer her when she is more "jazz."

Yes, she's pretty good, she did a good job on If I Was Ur Girlfriend a few years ago

I like her style, she has some good new music out now

I could see Andy meshing with her style more than with Prince

Yeah, I don't like Radio Music Society nearly as much as Chamber Music Society. The only quibble I had with her Ravinia show is that she didn't do anything from her previous releases. It was all from RMS. Still and all, it was a very enjoyable show.

MadamGoodnight

I saw her open for Prince. They played well together.

I love her as a musician, but her voice can be a bit too thin for my tastes.

Thanks for the info. I think I'd still go and see her if she played close.

Good. Probably a nice break from all his own music. Esperanza is great! Andy's People Pleaser is also catchy but Esperanza is super smooth. Her concerts in A'dam sold out quickly.

You're kidding, right?

Copying Esperanza's style and album themes does not equate "twin." That's such an insult to this hardcore artist.

She is definitely worth the price of admission.

Edited to say: She also had a very good ensemble backing her. Wonderful musicianship on that stage.

No they don't, aside from the obvious hair, which Esperanza started wearing first, several years ago.

Andy's prettier to me BUT she was getting compared to Espe way before Prince discovered her especially when her music was similar to Espes back in the day. I think that's why he's trying to turn her into this funk goddess or whatever...Glad P is getting out and supporting other artist's shows!

My wife and I saw her at Rivinia, stood in line to get cd signed, told her to tell Jef Lee that "Blue" changed my life...she cracked up and said "Jef would love to hear that, I'm gonna tell when I get done" - that was great!

She's actually in Chicago tonight till wednesday at City Winery
