Dance 4 Me Remixes All of you that have heard the club/dance remixes of Dance 4 Me what do you think? personally I love the "Brian Matrix da Big Room Mix" and I like the "David Alexander Icon Mix" as well! When I first heard these remixes I was like, "Welcome to the 21st Century Prince!" I always felt alot of his music had the potential to be remixed into awesome club/dance songs which would really grab the attention of today's youth since House Music is really big right now!

I think they are the closest thing to horseshit.

they are ok, would be great for strip clubs. What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

So you think the youth of today like bad 90's remixes? Have you not heard of dubstep then? They're awful.

Musical equivalent to being stabbed in the ear with a rusty screwdriver, add to that cheap flimsy packaging (the cd is in a cheap card sleeve and I owned 2 twelve inch pic discs and the cover they were housed in split on both copies) and you have what is widley regarded as a bit of a turkey.

Oops! You forgot to add the line 'positive opinions only' and I forgot that this is the org...
We both failed.
But what can I say? I find the original cringeworthy (to put it mildly), so go figure what I think of the remixes...

Hmmm I agree with the others sounding like late 90s techno mixes but the one's I talked about above I really have to disagree with you there. They are very "Today" and I could definitely see Robbie Rivera, Erick Morillo, Danny Tenaglia and many other DJ's spinning this at a club.

Not positive just constructive..I figure that is assumed but silly me I should never assume that b/c as you said this is the org. saying something is horseshit with no explanation is like saying nothing at all. If you had just said what you just said now it would have been alot more constructive and understanding and meaningful and by what you just said I mean this: "I find the original cringeworthy (to put it mildly), so go figure what I think of the remixes..."

are you not a fan of house music? If you're not, I could send you links to DJ Tiesto and you still might reach for the rusty screw driver. If its a genre thing fine if not though and you are a fan of House then I am really suprised that you do not like the remixes at least that I mentioned b/c the others I do believe are pretty shitty..

I'm indifferent to house/dance/club/whatever music. I like some of it, but even as unfamiliar as I am with music of this kind, I know that the D4M remixes are terrible.
No links thanks.

No i wasnt going to send you a link lol I was just saying as an example, even if I sent you stuff from Tiesto (who is a God in the Genre of Dance music) you still would reach for the rusty screw driver but simply b/c you do not like the genre not because the music sucks. I hate country but I'm not going to say that b/c I dont like the genre, that all country music sucks. Im sure there are masterpieces I just cant hear them b/c its not my type of music. you know what I mean? anyways you have your opinion and I appreciate you sharing it thanks

I didn't say that I disliked the genre, just that I am indifferent to it. Much of the music I listen to is regarded as dance music, but it sounds nothing like the type of dance music that the D4M remixes are. Each to their own of course.

There are only two types of music. Good and bad. These are of the later.

So if i dislike a genre or dont understand a genre of music in its entirety I should still be able to decipher good and bad from it? Hardly! I am going to have to respectfully disagree with you. For me Country music as I have mentioned b4 is a prime example. I dont understand the music nor do I care to and therefore I could not tell you a good from a bad song. So I do not feel your statement is valid at least with most people. It is clear to me you are not all that familiar with house music so to say that any club song is "bad" would be a little out of your league wouldn't you agree? I guess I should know that most prince fans are middle to old age people who are not going to be into nor understand House music so my apologies.

I kind of like David Alexanders 'Icon Remix'. The others didn't really move me too much. ©

Buddy, I spent my twenties high on e's and whizz! I've huggedCarl Cox at half six in the morning outside Club UK, chatted with Laurent Garnier and stood in the toilet whilst Jon of The Pleased Women droid next to me in drag taking a piss. I've even had my dancing face shown in the old clubbing nights pages of Mixmag. Back in the day of course. Oh, i've also chatted to the guys from Hexstatic on occasion in the last twelve months about "the scene". I think i'm aware of "house music". My statement is still valid. We all know when something is god or bad regardless of preference. Musical maturity. ...sent from my shit phone

What're those words that rhyme with "cheeky cunt"? And Tiesto is two years older than me! I remember wanting to colour my hair silver like his was. With leopard spots. Must have been the drugs. Now it's silver anyway. With liver spots probably. Funny how you always get what you wish for albeit skewed.

I've only listened to them once or twice and I haven't been impressed... Generally I find that forcing an uptempo house or techno beat on a song from another musical genre isn't really relevant... It works once in a while (the wonderful disco-sounding mix of TGRES comes to mind) but generally it's just too artificial... I remember these disastrous Junior Vasquez remixes in the early 90's oh lawd
There are more clever ways to do a remix than to turn a song into a dance-club thing at any (musical) price... A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Those David Alexander mixes are awful. This reminded me of the awful making of the remix video. He doesn't half love himself...he probably got paid $200 for doing the mix.

Prince had to know that his most loyal fans wouldn't care for the remixes as they are generated for the younger crowds. He should have stuck with the original and released a video for it.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
what does loyalty have to do with caring for the remixes? all of a sudden if you like songs that are remixed your not the "most loyal"? surly you are kidding? Maybe the words you were searching for were "Prince had to know that his older, middle aged fan base wouldn't care for the remixes as they are generated for the younger crowds...."

Most of Prince's most "loyal" fans are the older more mature crowd, so yes, that is how I meant it. I didn't think when I wrote that it was going to be so dissected. Geesh.
