Of course I would buy it. It sounds like there is plenty of good material from the shows that went well to put together a killer DVD, and maybe even some of the first night's show is usable. I don't expect it to come together, though.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Well the signs certainly seemed to point to a DVD of some sorts, lots of filming, same outfits over 2 nights perhaps for continuity etc. Given the issues on sound, the set list that we know so well, the fact that lots of us have seen a tonne of pro shot footage already from the the current stage rig [o2 gigs onwards] etc. I just wonder if there's the appetite right now?

Casual fans will have read the bad reviews of the first night - if they weren't aware then the reviewers in the press will 100% make then aware!!.

The hardcore like myself will no doubt want it as part of our collection but then again do we view it as a non event that is a cash generator for the masses?

If I were P, given all the bad vibes around the shows I'd forget Chi-towns gigs and perhaps look at the many other stellar shows from the Welcome 2 series - there is surely more than enough footage?

Want you clarify something: "given all the bad vibes around the shows"

Sounds like every show was bad??? confused ; when Tuesday concert and aftershow has been said by many as the best and Wednesday concert and aftershow pretty good also!

O COME ON! LOL

Every single last one of you here, would sure nuff BUY it if Prince released a DVD/Blu-Ray lol

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here! The OP asked, if we would and a lot of us already are programmed to believe he'll never do that because he hasn't since 'One Nite Alone...' which has been a DECADE ago! LOL

It would be amazing if he did though, I mean imagine the bulk of the 'Welcome 2...' shows being released? It would AMAZING! I believe, if he was to release it, it would contain clips from various shows from the tour? Considering he changes the setlist, he would have to pick what he deemed the best..I don't see him just releasing the one from Chicago, he might just because of the CAUSE with Van Jones and Rebuild the dream. But it's likely something may be in the works, but we just are craving new material! SO the mere thought causes us to reply a raving 'YAY'...

I do believe Prince is out with another funky trick...and I can't wait to see it revealed!

Someone here made a clever point about Prince..in comparison to the iPhone. While I don't totally agree..I get their point. lol

He's here..by announcing a tour..brings an appearance here and there; then he just vanishes..lol. Our response usually offers wonder and suspense, but stops until he comes up again! But after doing what he just did, he still has some more to often..Remember though..He is free..So he does it when he wants to on HIS time. smile lol

OMG, just watched the 'extra loveable' clip and the lights around the symbol are constantly shorting out. Jesus, it's like gettin the broken, crappy lights out of the loft at christmas, putting them on the tree and being too lazy or too broke to replace them !!

He may be able to over dub the sound but even Ridley Scott couldn't fix this farce!.

As i've said a billion times, if P loses his live rep' then his career will be over.

bad vibes for the 1st show, bad vibes for the free offer for Tuesday for mondays audience who couldn't make it as they have lives!, bad vibes for Wednesday as the some sound issues[not as bad as Monday] resurfaced, bad vibes after the final aftershow he just fucked off without a 'good night', bad vibes that the same frickin' sampler set is being done again [even pissing off casual fans],bad vibes around the whole Andy Allo experience [badly organised listening party, disrespecting fans, pretending to have that P attitude, the delayed CD without a proper update] etc. Do I need to go on?.

The man has palyed thousands of amazing shows and when he's on form he is off the scale and frankly untouchable, the W2Chicago was not a good overall experience - bordering on farce- if I were P i would not want this potential DVD to be record of a hugely successful Welcome 2 series of gigs.

If you haven't watched the Sign o the Time movie, you're not a real fan. It's an absolute must-see.

I could watch the chicago show from the 16th because its floating around, but I'm not sure if I want to.

Well the signs certainly seemed to point to a DVD of some sorts, lots of filming, same outfits over 2 nights perhaps for continuity etc.

I watched the clip that Andy Allo posted and I couldn't help but notice it how different it was to another video I've watched recently: an audience shot VHS one from one of the first Lovesexy gigs in Paris (only the first hour).

The Lovesexy video is below mediocre when it comes to video and sound, and it doesn't help that it is about as big as a stamp. But what kept me glued was the incredible energy: the unrelenting "medley" of hits and album tracks that still left room for full-lenght performances and solos, coupled with a band that never seemed to stand still for a second even while playing. There are nine people on stage and they're just all over the place, dancing and acting and running and playing this insane music. Just look at the "Jack U Off/Twelve" section, where the band solos for a couple of minutes so Prince can hop offstage and change his outfit, which then ends with Sheila E doing this drumriff and then immediately going into "Sister" -- so there's this incredible switch from funk with jazz influences to rock in what amounts to a couple of heartbeats and it just takes you breath away. I've just written a ton of words and I am barely scratching the surface of what happens.

And then there's the clip AA posted. It features Prince, barely moving, pointing his mic towards Maceo's saxophone. Before that you see a big band completely overpowering the song. It is bland and boring and predictable.

I'm not really into watching concerts to be honest. I like being at concerts but watching them on telly just doesn't grip me. I would probably listen to it as I wondered about the house but I can't see me sitting down to watch it. Not Prince, not anybody. Although I have watched bits from concerts I've been to in the hope of seeing myself (Isle of Wight for instance) and I also watched half an hour of Bellowhead on Sky Arts HD last week.

I did once sit down with my wife and start to watch Rave but it was awful and she wouldn't stop laughing at his outfit.

As for recent live stuff. Well I don't enjoy the audio boots but I may watch something if it was professionally shot and on blu-ray. I like a decent picture and sound quality. Anything else puts me off. I don't expect in this day and age to have to suffer someone with a handcam filming. I blame it all on ET and VHS.

And no, I'm probably not a real fan despite the fact my mates ask me if I've still got that restraining order against me for stalking Prince. They think I'm obsessed. Not enough to call everything a MASTERPIECE mind you wink I tend to hide my Prince fanaticism from the vast majority of people. I can't stand the ridicule.

i totally hear you and I too wish it were '88 again - don't we all!. Not to make excuses but maybe expecting the energy from 24 years ago is too much - he may look great but that body has seen a lot of action!. The thing with the Lovesexy shows was that band members [especailly Eric] felt constricted by the format whereas you could argue that the Welcome 2 format is a lot looser in terms of set list. imagine the Lovesexy / SOTT band playing in this format!!. Lovesexy was about 1 mans vision / art, Welcome 2 is for the masses, has become lazy and is clearly a money spinner. This format has been done from 2007 onwards and IMHO some shows that I have heard have been stellar [great band, great set lists etc]. If he's made a tonne of money from it and actually managed to retain the profit and not piss it away in JW donations, legal cases! and cock projects [Andy A!] then fair play to him.

He clearly just needs to go away for at least a year, sack the Welcome 2 concept, put together an album of 10 world class tracks and put together a proper tour - i just do not get how hard that is for him to do. He maybe old, he may have slowed down but when he's challenged [especially by those around him] I am sure that he can still deliver. That is why we, as hard core fans, are harsh on him - the likes of Dylan, Sprinsteen, Elton and other long time ledgends have peaked and now produce mature, consistent albums-P on the other hand has a lot of creative gas still left in the tank - for whatever reason he has chosen to just cruise in the slow lane.

I can dig that, I've never been a huge live audio/video buff myself, but the SOTT movie is really great - spellbinding even - most of it isn't even live, it's shot at PP, so it's like a longform music video with audience reaction shots if anything.

Oh God, I spent so many afternoons as a kid watching the SOTT movie video, turning up late for R.E. or geography - Thanks Prince, I could've had an education in something other than neon green skirt-snatching and pink fur coat wearing! mad

of course I'd buy it...I'd hope it would be better than Rave and the even worse Aladdin dvds...

Montreux 2009 should have been officialy released, the musicianship on those shows is incredible...

I can only hope that with the talk of a W2A style DVD being 'prepared for release' (and I'll believe it when I see it) that perhaps he is wanting to do something different in the future....

I think we are well overdue for Prince to challenge us again...to change direction like he used to do from year to year....it's been a long time since he 'broke the mould' musically...

Well I guess we don't need to buy it now because it was a gift. And no matter what people say, the concert was ultra high in energy from Prince, NPG and crowd. The horns sound fabulous and mesh so well with Extraloveable, it sounds as nice as the early version. Piano piece too was amazing. Prince doesn't really need to sing that much coz the crowd do a lot of it for him.

Wow! With the concert and the podcast with super long versions, it has been a double dose in prince

and I'm certainly 'digging the scene' woot! Stage is so pretty all in purple touched
