I've known this song for so long and i decided to download the extended version and i have to say up until 3:40 it sounds fine and then it sounds as if someone just added a bunch of crap afterwards. im glad he edited it. All the bombasticity at the end just spoils what was so great about the song.

i downloaded the computer blue extended version.


are there any other recommended extensions of his songs from the 80s i should download?

A lot of the 'extended' versions of songs from the 80's are actually 'Full length versions' and it's the album version that's an edit.

I always loved the extended "She's Always In My Hair," especially the very end. When it first came out, I almost blew my speakers playing it.

I think all his extended versions from the 80's are killer. Never a dull moment. Get them all.

The REAL Prince, at his FUNKIEST. Oh my goodness. I remember when I bought that 12" YEARS ago, almost fainting when I happened to come across it in the store.

Prince screaming "work it!" over & over, & that extra "I'll work you on the floor" verse simply take the song to another level. Still, in my opinion, the funkiest song Prince has recorded.


I think the "kiss" 12" is a little long & drawn out. It's still funky & hard for about 2 minutes after the standard end of the song, then it loses some of its steam by the later sax solo(s).


In agreement about most of the other 12"/extended versions; everything really, up to Shockadelica is "must have":

Pop Life (Sheila E remix, moreso than the longer, more "redundant" "import" version)
