A thought about the 3 recent rehearsals

I betcha my ass than if Prince had streamed them as being from any band from The Revolution to the 1994-96 NPG line-up (save a few betraying details such as the girls' backing vocals), just everyone here would have bought it and raved as how great these bands were, and how much better Prince was back then.

I've just listened to the 3 of them in a raw: this band is pretty tight, just as much as any previous line-up, and these groove are just exactly like what Prince used to do in his so-called "golden age".

OK now u can flame me lol

Some would, most wouldn't. Don't tar us all with the same brush.

I'd be delighted to - if I had any idea what you were talking about.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Recent streams of Prince rehearsals: The Dance Electric, Mutiny/Ice Cream Castles and Days Of Wild And Loose.

Some people loved 'em, some people complained they were crap that had nothing to do with what good ol' Prince used to do/be.

Do you really think Prince would have a band that wasn't tight and rehearsed until they couldnt' stand it? I'll give you the answer...no! The problem is, in the "golden age", it was fresh and new. Not so anymore.

The soundboard of the Birthday Show was incredible...mostly imo due to the songs and drum machines used at the time.

The background vocals were not great by the Revolution..though iconic, not the best and as a band were alright..but I have heard band playing ALOT BETTER with prince progression, especially the Musicology shows.

Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Not sure I understand. Are you are saying that every Prince BAND were crap since the beginning, or just that every Prince REHEARSAL that has leaked were crap since the beginning?

Of course, I'm referring to the 3 horrible and tasteless rehearsals dropped as of late.

They sound as a 3rd class television talk show house band.

I still don't get it: how could 2012 rehearsals suck 30 years ago? Did you have a time-machine that allowed you to listen to 2012 songs in 1982? Do you still have this device? Can you listen to the music Prince will release in 2047 with it? Can I have a device like this too? eek eek eek

(Man, this forum is getting weirder and weirder... and so do I confused )

I was 8 in 1984 but I may not be as fresh now as I was in 2002 sad

But honestly my artistic skills as a writer keep getting better and better and I intend them to be even better when i'm 54 smile
