I can only hope... Moonbeam Levels is one of my favorite songs of all time. How it hasn't been released yet is beyond me. Then again, this is Prince we're talking about. I wouldn't count on it happening.

Purple is the color of my heart,
Bruised from you leaving me.

You took the words out of my mouth. This and the long hallway version of Computer Blue are the ones I would love to see released one day. One can dream.

I think it should be the title track for his new album. The '82 version should be the album track and a new version could be a bonus.

I would love to hear a live version that starts with him on piano, like the version he teased LA with back in '82.

Seems unlikely - the melody has already been used in a released song.

Sigh.

It is a sign of the times when an artist needs to reach back to his past even more (not just playing the hits, but now also the more obscure materials) just to keep his show 'fresh', interesting or whatsoever.

The old song was better in it's old form.

No new performance will top that.

Better spend the showtime on something new.

er

^I agree, but refreshing his musical past onstage can be just as creative as writing new songs.
Don't tell me that last year in the Melkweg you weren't amazed when he opened with What's My Name! And the Mutiny and Chocolate on top of that..
U must have loved that as much as I did! headbang

He has done them all? eek

Anyway, I think "Moonbeam Levels" could work as a new version better than many of the uptempo numbers. It could have the same type of production as, say, "Planet Earth" and still retain its identity.

I wasn't in the Melkweg for fascist work-related reasons.

But I did enjoy the Gent shows, where is Sabotage releasing those?, with a fairly nice rendition of e.g. Endorphine Machine.

Chocolate he also did in Rotterdam, etc.

But understand what you mean: doing an obscure oldie can certainly be nice, but mostly the old rendition is `better` in some ways. (at least that is my opinion)

I'd rather see him play something new, unreleased with the energy and drive of e.g. the first half of the 1990's live shows. (and perhaps not the main shows but the aftershows and the like)

ERROR in DB::fetchSingle() on
Error (Table 'princeorg.databank' doesn't exist) on SELECT pagename FROM databank WHERE pagename='I'

Any idea why?

Yes but only if it's the remastered original, I don't want any pale new imitation, I'm still reeling from last years' massacre of Extraloveable.....

Free borrows heavily, but I was thinking of a segment in 3 Chains O' Gold, which uses the melody from the verses in Moonbeam Levels.
