Prince is an amazing singer I'm sure his singing has been discussed here before, but I remember in Non-Prince music, lots of folks did not list Prince as one of their favorite singers.
Recently I've been noticing all over again what an amazing vocalist he is. Lots of times, one listens to a song as a whole, or focuses on the guitar or bass or something else, without paying attention to how awesome the vocals are.
Also, he's very often doing his own backing vocals too, and the harmonies are fantastic. He's got such incredible control and can do many different "moods" or "styles" with his voice.
He sings so well on pretty much everything, but the ones I'm listening to recently are: "Elixir" - and you know he did the vocal arrangements on that for Bria too, the phrasing, everything An acoustic of "Alphabet Street" and "Love" (much better than the one on 3121) Several renditions of "Love They Will Be Done" "Gotta Broken Heart Again" live about 10 yrs ago That Montreux performance "Come" album
Now I'm waiting for people to come here and say in which song or performance his vocals were "meh" or bad, 'cause that's what happens on an appreciation thread.

Well, we know he sings amazingly otherwise he wouldn't be where he is today. I'd say his performance last night (this am) was excellent. His voice has had a rest after down Under and I think we're in for some treats in the upcoming shows. I love his voice, always have. From the first time I heard that falsetto on the radio, I was hooked.

I loved his performance of Nothing Compares 2 U with MJB last night, I thought he sounded amazing, just amazing. All I could do was smile throughout his entire performance and marvel at how great he sounded.

His vocals are divine! No one quite like him....Just listened to the performance even his speaking voice saying ' Mary, Mary, the pleasure's all mine' is exhilirating to listen to! Always baffles me how he is able to hit such high notes and yet he has a very deep male natural voice.

I know no one wants him to do a "Prince Sings the American Songbook/the Standards" type album like Rod Stewart and others have done - I don't want him to do it either - but I'd love to just sit in his living room and listen to him sing those old standards with a piano, like "'S Wonderful" "The Way You Look Tonight," "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered," "I Cover the Waterfront," "My Funny Valentine" etc. I can only imagine how Amazingly he could deliver those kind of songs...
