I'm looking forward to the horns as well. Prince never ceases to amaze me. He never gets old and trite. He's been doing the Welcome 2 concerts for roughly two years now, and Chicago is about to get an entirely different sound than the other shows he's played. I'm so excited for next week!!!

Prince with 11 horns? Guess I have to plan for a Chicago trip.

Hopefully all the horns will help drown out that loud mouth Shelby J's shouting throughout the show.

For REAL!! Would be nice if she's gone this time around! Can't wait!!!

Prince is dancing behind the mixing board. "When the horns get on top of this, Lord have mercy!" And here come the horns -- 11 of them.

20 piece band? Awww fuck. That sucks. Background singers and horn players wall to wall. Yuck.

i agree!! Lets Go crazy sounded bad enough with 3 horns on the Musicology tour, I cant imagine 11!! Sounds like bigger band so that Prince can do less

Sounds like the critic was talking about Mike Scott. I remember a Guitar Player interview from 2004 where Mike Scott said he plays a lot of Scott Henderson guitar runs until Prince told him to play the entire fingerboard and play less.

Yeah, it was Mike.

He and Blackwell played on Timberlake's last tour and John has worked with Prince a ton since then and Mike hasn't played with Prince since '04.

Mike Scott...get yo shit together...you ole pimp!

u don't have to go, I'm sure Prince could care less if u are there or not. lol

actually, the more I consider it, the more interesting it is. I'm not a big fan of him having a big horn section. I'd rather it was more raw and dirty with some synths. however, I think the sheer number of horn players (11!!) is so over the top that it means he's got something interesting planned.

Exactly. I've never seen him with that kind of band - so I'm actually sort of excited to see what he does with it.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Any guess about the others?

I'd think maybe three keyboardists, a guitarist (or two), bassist, and three or four drummers/percussionists.

Unless Fredrick(?) plays harmonica. Maybe a couple of string players?? There are numerous Prince classics with string or stringlike arrangements.
