Unexpected Prince Songs In Public Places There was a thread on this topic but it has expired. However, I just have to share the fact that I am sitting in a Starbucks right now and they are playing "I'm Yours." I certainly did not expect to hear that. I haven't heard any Prince in a restaurant lately - but I think I'd laugh my ass off if I ever heard Dorothy Parker played in one. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I remember hearing 'The Word' in a restaurant in Menorca a few years ago. Very strange choice. 3121... Don't U Wanna Come?

I could see "I'm Yours" being played if I were in a quirky independent coffee shop owned or managed by a Prince fan. But Starbucks is a mammoth corporate chain and they often play the same stuff in all their stores. So why would they have selected a deep cut from Prince's debut album? Could it have something to do with the termination of his publishing contract with Universal?

I was on my honeymoon in Israel 3 weeks ago. Sat in a bar in jerusalem smoking a shisha pipe and having a mojito when the bar started playing Purple house from the rave un2 the year 2000 DVD. An audio rip. I was in my happy place that moment Fo sho. A week later as the sun set over the med from my beach bar in Tel Aviv. Sign o the times came on. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

I heard "Diamonds and Pearls" at the gym this morning. They mostly play current Top 40 stuff so it was a nice surprise. The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

I've got a group of 50-something high-society lady friends that are all cowgirls, and their theme song is "Pussy Control". They make every DJ play it whenever they're at a club - especially when they're at C&W clubs, LOL.
