Finally saw a Parade concert! So last night went to my buddy's house for a gathering. He put on Parade in Stockholm. It copied from VHS and not clear as I would have liked BUT I really enjoyed it. Had a few surprises 1) how Jazzy the Rev sounded. A HUGE change from Purple Rain. 2) They Performed "Kiss" to the beat of "IT" I was charged up by that. 3) Lisa had an INCREDIBLE solo on ANOTHERLOVAHOLENYAHEAD ..mind blowing 4) Bobby is a lot better on drums than he gets credit for 5) TOO MANY DANCERS. 6) Mico was ok not the mind blowing guitar player I thought he was supposed to be Honestly an excellent show overall though. Other than some short clips on the tube I had never seen any of the Parade live era. It was a treat. I was sad I didn't have my laptop to have the DVD magically appear on my hard drive Is this one of the better Parade shows?

You haven't seen his birthday in Detroit? Now that is classic. klick klick

That was actually "When Doves Cry" that had the drumbeat of "It"

the full version or the edited one? (did it have "Soft and Wet" in it?)
the edited one is much better quality but the uncut one is worth checking out too (and I know it has more song that just S&W i just can not remember....eeek!)

How Ironic, thanks to a friend providing me with boots galore, watched yesterday too, and yes the show is overwhelmed by Greg and Wally, who are both very annoying and can't dance at all. But thats the only gripe, the rest was great, Prince was amazing, the songs he was performing and then he started singing 17 Days, I just couldn't believe and he even gave Wendy a spotlight solo and yes I got the Sign Vibe, it was obviuos he written most of the sign material by this stage and I could here bits of It, and even its going to be a beautiful night. What amazes me is how Prince can jump off a 6 foot high platform and land in a perfect split. The audience was pretty dull though, not much participation from them, lots of blonde and hair and mullets too. Still I would love to have been at that show as Prince was on fire and the extended revolution are having fun. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Good take on the show
Yeah the 3 dancers up front wasn't a good move
He should have had a platform up on the side 4 them
The stage was full of people 2 horns 2 guitar players -Prince 3 dancers 1 bass and many times guests

Gotta LOVE the Parade tours and the Birthday show was hot
that album could have been bigger, another he should have promoted the hell out of
and seeing performances of Parade songs are another reason Performances should have been in UTCM

I will never understand why he would abandon projects so quickly

I agree, it's why I think there was such a quick fizzle of Prince in pop culture
I also understand that during the 1983-1986 period there was SO MUCH music being created that I can see why he could get 'distracted' and want to move to the next possibility. But maybe not listening to P.R.(Public Relations) on what's happening from the fans side might have hurt him. Too much change too quickly can just throw people off
at that time still he had enough star power that WB probably would have released 2 albums of music, they were already releasing his and his proteges music, so they definately believed in his vision
I always invisioned an extension of maturity in his music that went beyond just being in the pop public eye. A performance of Condition of the Heart at a high end award show everyone in black suits with ruffled shirts Prince on Piano, Sheila on percussion Jill + Susannah assisting on background vocals, full Revolution just a skillful rendition of that 'classical' music sound rendered live

That is an excellent idea. I think I read on here where Alan Leeds (?) was saying he wanted Prince to do a more stripped down run of concerts. That would have been incredible to see with the Revolution honestly.
I also wish Wendy would have been allowed to sing a bit more. I Wonder U is one of my favorites.

I have to dust off my parade tour dvds, that tour was FIRE and my favorite era. I'll wait until after the W2Chicago show first. I dont want to have the same expectations. LOL

Totally agree! Parade is so underrated and would have been more popular had he promoted it right. love that gif! When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace -Jimi Hendrix

I know, I shouldn't look at stuff like this (teary eyed)

I've only seen the birthday show in Detroit, but it is one of my favorite concerts to watch of his! Looks like such a big party on stage. If you will, so will I

The dancers don't hurt what is one of the best concert tours he ever did. Shame on you guys. All you others say Hell Yea!! ![]()

The Detroit show is life changing. And mindblowing. Doing all that he does as a musician/performer PLUS dancing like a fucking gymnast? Damn. And let's not talk about that tight little body. "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

lol I just would think it would have been even better if BrownMark was in front, maybe looked to cluttered at times, but had a nice party feel, but of course it was just a bit last minute that Mico & Eric were added? It's hard imagening at least the show not having Eric & Atlanta Bliss, but originally Mico & Eric were supposed to be doing shows as the Family
visually it would have been more appealing if they had a upper side stage they were on
I did like the dancers tamborine tossing during 'Christopher Tracey's Parade' but I think over all on a side stage to the left would have been more visually workable. there were times when they worked well, I liked them on certain parts during the Love Bizarre video/show. Still would prefer the band/musicians up front. It didn't even work all the time during SOTT shows only on certain songs. Even though I prefered that band set up 3 dancers on Prince's right, Guitar & Bass on the left
BrownMark got front stage at times especially when America Purple Rain were performed But one his BEST tours, probably the best
