I know, I know, I couldn't think of another example to show the difference. I actually never knew Steve was wearing a wig, until I saw him bald, but then I always wondered, why Steve's hair was so stiff and extremely even, and so round, like a bowling ball. But from time to time I always did wonder if it was a wig, because Steve's hair was just too even all around the hairline, but Prince's hair how he is wearing it, definitely looks natural, and I guess some of his fans who are not familiar with the various textures of Black Americans' hair would assume it's not his hair. It is a shame when many think that when they see black men and women's hair, that some assume it's a wig.
Also, why is it that some folks still push that old 60s mentality, that when black folks wear an afro that they're going to start a damn revolution or put up their hand in black power sign? You should see some of the stupid ass comments I read on another site. Unbelievable, just over someone deciding to wear their hair natural.

Oh well...I dunno why people gotta be chia pets for showing their natural beauty but whateva...
More importantly I thought Prince articulated his points very well especially when he spoke about how people have to get past their various affiliations and come together to help each other.
I really appreciated the whole discussion minus Elizabeth's silly questions and Barbara Walters with the whole "ooh, you're sooo mysterious and quiet".
He told her, "I'm only like that around you".

How could any of you guys think such a busted fro could be fake? It ain't even got no even texture.
Lmao! this makes sense the permed ends must go!

yeah if his head was all full and luxurious and perfect I would be like WIG! But its not at all... it was even longer by the left ear... awful head of hair... I wish he would just go bald at this point.

Yes you can depending on texture and how relaxed the hair acutally is. I did hair, specialized in relaxers with Olive Lee Benson... she was a master She taught me that you can texturize hair (not relax it totally straight) and yet still blow it outhi to a straight look or wet it for a curlier look. They did this with men and women who wore their hair shorter. The hair does usually grow out at a rate at about 1/2 per month, but you can get the "S" pattern back with bacj to back protein (keratin) treatments to revive the curl somewhat. Also sine Princ has grey hair so that hair is resistant and will stick up stray if it is relaxed fully... but even if you add keratin treatments to it it will curl up a bit to a looser "s"
If you cck out P's head, you can clearly see some hairs at the tips are still sort straight like and the texture is n uneven e all arund. IMO its too busted to be fake seriously. I would know. [/quot I se eee I see you know about hair as well! The Owner of Miss Jessies is a good friend of mine...This afro needs fixing. |

I am currently transitioning my hair right now, and if I had the money and resources Prince has, I would have flown out the best natural hair stylists in the country before I would have went on national televison with helmet head. I'm sorry, but you can be natural and still look fly. His fro was misshapen and his clothes were ill-fitting. Nope, not the Prince I was looking for. I just learned of Van Jones' program, and I'm still looking into it, because I never heard of it before. Good to see Rosario involved as well. I like how Prince is working with various social organizations and donating a portion of the concert money to help them with their cause. He's basically being a part of the change in America, by involving and concerning himself with societal issues affecting various communities in our society. |

I was worried when I read that report of the interview. But this is what was actually said:
Q: I heard that you have a vault of hundreds of unreleased songs. Are you ever going to release them and let us hear?
P: One day someone will release them. I don't know that I'll get to release them all.
Q: Why are you holding on to them?
P: There's just so many. And I like writing new stuff. We do new stuff all the time. I meet a lot of musicians who inspire different sounds.
It doesn't sound to me like he is threatening to withhold stuff. Nobody expects him to release everything during his lifetime. Even Bob Dylan still has stuff in his vault and he's been releasing an official bootleg series for decades.
At least this puts to rest the rumor that he's planning to have everything destroyed at his death. The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach. |

It's not a wig.
Come on! His hair is not that thick anymore. It's already been established that he's thinned out over the years.
And that OUTFIT! That has to be the worst thing he's ever worn. Complete mess. Tore up from the floor up and yes I am bringing that back from the 90s. And he said like 2 words! Ugh. "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide." |

When you have enough clout like Steve, Benie Mac and Prince you pay for whatever look you want. There's no limits. Bernie )RIP) and Prince go for the natural look. Steve went for the uber-clean and crisp look. Ricky Bell of New Edition/ BBD is currently going for the Ultra Sheen look with that spray on mess he uses.
Interesteingly you didn't know Steve was wearing a wig. THAT'S the intention, to make it look normal for the person that's rocking it. . I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired! |

He's already released all the "bootlegs" that he wants us to hear. I think most of us are just ready for the remixes and remasters, editions that would include some of the outtakes maybe.

Reflection - Prince
"....Remember all the way back in the day
when we would compare who's afro was the roundest.."

[Edited 9/17/12 12:14pm]
YES!
I thought of this exact lyric, when I saw his hair.I like the fact that he is going natural with his hair! I think he looks nice with it!
As for the outfit...PRINCE HAS A MIND OF HIS OWN! lol
If only he discarded those yellow pants in exchange for some black ones! (IF THEY MATCHED...WITH HIS SHIRT )
I still don't know why some of his blacks are different colors...lol
BUT THE yellow pants, and the black jacket thing was so weird looking..The shirt without the leather jacket thing and yellow pants threw him off. And the shades were also interesting...lol
BUT; I am so glad to know Prince was supporting the causes he is. It was inspiring to see him walk on those areas. Prince does a lot to give back, and he has much respect in my book!
Got to love the man! He changes his look all the time doesn't he?
It's Button Therapy, Baby! |
