Old Prince documentary: need some info! I've got this documentary that I taped off TV a couple of years ago, but I missed the first 10 minutes of it. Was wanting to know some info about it (title, length, your opinion etc). It seems fairly official, with interviews with Sheila E, Eric Leeds, Levi Seacer, Ingred Chavez, Paul Peterson, Owen Husney and critics/journalists Nelson George, Edna Gunderson (USA Today) and Neal Karlen (the Rolling Stone interview dude). It even has some scenes from inside Paisley Park and rare concert footage from 1980-90.

It sounds like the documentary the BBC filmed 4 what's called Omnibus. It was aired on BBC1 around the beginning of 1992 after the release of Diamonds and Pearls. It was pretty cool. Lot's of his own personal footage. ----------

If it is the BBC documentary that nuthinbuttamuffin mentioned, I remember a little bit about it.
It started (if my memory does indeed serve me well), with the guy doing the documentary driving through Minnesota both in day and night. He was getting closer to Paisley Park. During this and in the voiceover he was explaining something along the lines of Prince being "mysterious", and how he would like to get to know some more about him. I think the intro to Sign of the Times was playing. My opinion: interesting. Hope this helps [This message was edited Tue Mar 4 9:47:39 PST 2003 by andyf] --------

I've seen two versions of this documentary. One contains more footage than the other and is edited slightly different. The longer one aired on PBS here about 6 years ago. | |
