Rate Rock and Roll Love Affair from 1 to 10.... With 10 as a Highest Thumbs Up Rank and 1 Lowest Rank. With all the hype P is putting into it, he must think its a Hit. The video, the promotion, available for sale ("Purple Music will be distributing the new PRINCE single "Rock & Roll Love Affair" in Europe and other countries starting November 2nd"), etc.

After the first listen it was a 5/10.
Now after a few listen it´s a 6/10, the chorus is catchy but far away from being a "hit" imo.

3/10
The studio version just doesn't work to my ears. The live version sounded a little bit better.

5 out of 10 for me, not really a fan of country rock but it's not unlistenable by any means.

So... I can't choose 'zero'?
Come on! a whole 1 is definitely to much.

6. Just a little above average. An iTunes 3. I don't expect much more from him at his age/stage.

Have you REALLY listened to EVERY song Prince has recorded and released from 1978 until now?
I'm sure you haven't. | |

It's hard to know where to set the bar. For me I've had to lower it or at least adjust it. But the moaning is becoming so cliche so I'm gonna stop from now on and critique everything based on everything I listen to.
With this I drop it to a 5.

5. It's a nice enough song, cool, and breezy. I file it aways somewhere with "Vicki Waiting" and "Dinner With Delores". "New Power slide...."

i actually like the recorded version much more than the (first) live version. I have a feeling that might be because his guitar wasn't working for his solo ...

7...it's actually quite a pretty good song with a nice old skool vibe

It's not brilliant but it's catchy, radio friendly for any mood and no screeching guitar. I give it an 8. Would have been a 7 but the lyrics are good. It's tight.....but I think I can fit you in. Prince is still sexy. It's still no more complex that LRC or RB. If it had come out back then, everyone would be drooling. I'll have this over LRC or RB together with Love like jazz like version and 17 days funked up one. It's like a dressed down $.
We got out extraloveable electronic funk and gorgeous piano...... RnR is for the girls. YEAH!!!!! I'm charmed. "Free URself, B the best that U can B, 3rd Apartment from the Sun, nothing left to fear" Prince Rogers Nelson - Forever in my Life -
