Then it must also be the imagination of the musicians, engineers, producers, etc... who have discussed it.... Riiiiight!

rolleyes

The definition of vault as the gloriest thing is coined by Prince. Those people were working for Prince, and he was their boss. He told them what he wanted them to hear/know.

If he wants to keep his personal stuff/music/sounds in the vault (folder) he's entitled to, and nobody suggested there is another SOTT in the vault.

Complete nonsense!

Is it that you don't believe Eric Leeds, Alan Leeds, Susan Rogers, Chronic Freeze, etc., etc....?

They've been in the vault, worked on tracks from the vault. They aren't just taking his word for it.

Have you not heard the tracks that have leaked?

I could put together a set to rival SOTT just from what has leaked.

Complete nonsense just about sums up your posts perfectly.

Well, we're on the same page then.

Prince and his team has undoubtedly made it one of his USPs that he has a quantity of unreleased material - this is something that goes way, way back, he's spoke about it in interviews in the 80s and it was certainly a topic of point during interviews in the 90s.

I don't see people saying the best stuff in the Vault, I do see them saying there's some great stuff in there that we'd like to hear in perfect quality, and other stuff we know about from the same time periods that could be just as good, and we'd like to hear that too.

I totally agree with you here!! smile All of your posts here have pretty much been spot on! nod

1. Probably most of the stuff he recorded but didn't release while with WB has been bootlegged. It's well-known that various band members and staffers stole stuff and bootlegged it. I think that most of the unreleased stuff recorded from 1976 - 2000 got bootlegged one way or another, and we have it.

There is still TONS of stuff that is uncirculating. If you don't believe it, go through the pages of something like The Vault or look up the unreleased song list on princevault.com - See how many confirmed song titles there (many of which have descriptions, recording dates etc, so aren't early names for released songs, or phantom/made up titles). There are loads, hundreds - that is hundreds not already circulating and bootlegged. And there are still tons more we don't know about, especially from post-WB.

That's the top and bottom of it - people can keep saying "oh we've heard it all", "oh there is no vault, it's just something people made/bigged up", "it's all out there" - People can keep saying that, but I'm just saying you're wrong and you can look it up for yourself, we're not saying what we believe, we're saying what is documented from interviews, studio logs, circulating recordings etc. Not sure how more clear one can make it.

I know I won't rest until I have at least twelve versions of Work That Fat. Whether you want to call it "the Vault" or "the Fucking Crapper" is your decision.
