No, you've got it backwards, friend. The first Prince news I heard today is that he is doing a concert in Chicago to support a community-building organization. Then I hear his lawyers shut down one of my favorite fan websites. That sends me a mixed message. Does Prince want his fans to travel to the concert, or not?

As I said in other threads, I have a ticket on hold to fly to Chicago for Prince's first concert there. If he lifts the ban on thedigitalgarden.org by tomorrow night, I'm going to the concert. If he doesn't, I'm not going. Maybe he doesn't care about my opinion and doesn't want my money, but if so, why should I care about him and his concert?

I'd resign as a fan and spare to bitching that others have to hear which so they can enjoy the music. If negativity is all they can express then it's a waste of fucking time for them and a question mark for us.

He already shut down the website. I'll go to the concert if he lifts the ban. I'm trying to accomplish something positive here. Would you rather Prince keep shutting down fan websites? Because this one could be next.

Prince is a public figure. He has no more right to stop people from discussing his music on a website than Mitt Romney would have to stop Barack Obama from criticizing him or vice versa. If he wants to live a private life, he should stop announcing big arena concerts and move back into Andre's basement.

Agreed, Prince just isn't the same anymore, which I'm a little confused about. I mean, he doesn't have a website, shuts down other websites based on him, doesn't show his video's on utube, yet he still has concerts... well doesn't he need fans to come to those concerts and buy the expensive front row tickets?

Anyway, I'll always be a fan/admirer of his music.

It's like every time I come in this portion of the site, it's either fans saying his newer songs are "the best thing ever" as if they were facts or people complaining of Prince "not doing much for them" like he's the only musician to do this. You can dig the music even if you don't like the man's actions.

To be honest, this is basically knee jerking. Why should we be surprised at this point? I thought we were past this back in 2007 lol

Him shutting down The Digital Garden was a surprise to me. I thought that the terms of the 2007 ceasefire were clear: we can discuss bootlegs but not solicit them or say where to get them. I never saw that rule violated on TDG. If TDG can be shut down, any fansite that discusses bootlegs is potentially in trouble.
