Making the most out of the least This is a thread about songs that have little-to-no substance lyrically, thematically, or musically, but Prince knocked it out of the park with anyway.
Exhibit A: "La, La, La, He, He, Hee" 12" version, earning its "Highly Explosive" subtitle. [Edited 9/1/12 23:27pm]

I nominate "Ethereal Mix" from the Cream maxi-single. A very cool instrumental. The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

"Girl" fits into that category. It's the definition of minimalistic, but manages to be catchy as hell and even kinda sexy.
"Pretty Man" also gets a nod from me. It's just a fun James Brownesque jam, but it has so much energy and attitude, I love it.

^ Disagree. I think "Girl" tells a love/sex story very well. I nominate: Funky Funky Design We Live 2 Get Funky (I Like) Funky Music All kind of the same trail, isn't it? He can do a hundred jams like this in a year...

okay, so it's not that great, but I've always liked "2 Whom It May Concern." pretty neat for only being an ad for the album.
