Prince & his boots ...Or some people may call them heels.
how do u explain to non-fans the reason why he has such high & sometimes very pointy heels (or I call them boots). I'm sure you've had to answer this question at least once in ur purple journey. I often say that it's not because he's short (or gay) but because it's his ultra stylish/pimpin' style. Ie. He's got style. And have u seen him (concerts or photos) where he's not wearing them? [not including shots of him at home where he's barefooted -which I think are sexy as all hell]. I swear he wears them much better than some women I've seen, plus he dances in them & jumps off pianos in them!! Good lawd!! -- please share with me ur theories as to why he wears them & how u explain it to non-fans. Peace [Edited 8/25/12 3:04am] Peace in the House of Prince.

He wears them because of his height and he wants to be taller. He makes Bria walk behind him because she is so much taller then him. He won't be honest about it cause it's embarrassing.....

nothing to explain! everyone knows prince is very short 4 a bloke & a bit more height will make him feel less vulnerable i guess. i prefer the wedge type heels he's been wearing to the shitflickers but to me he's larger than life!! i'd really like him to ditch the heels & wear something more youthful like trainers or converse

I think he looks good in heels I can't imagine him wearing plain flat shoes. I got a pair of boots which when I tried on I thought were flat cause that's how they look but the heel has been made inside them so they look flat but give you height. I also think the way Prince dresses always goes with his shoes.

So it's mostly cos he's short. That makes sense. But do u think it would have caused some damage to his legs after all these years of wearing them? I think he looks good & sexy in them too & that's what sets him apart. By the way, what height is he? Peace in the House of Prince.

Prince is 5'4 if I am not mistaken? Possibly 5'2...LOL
Prince uses clothes as an illusion to his height. IMO It's not just the heels. I remember watching an interview of Andre's Cymone's Mother; who was one to make his clothes. She said, he wanted buttons on his pants because it brought the illusion that he was taller.I think he is aware of his height, and wears them because it makes him a bit taller.
It's just like when he wears his sleeves longer than usual, it brings on the illusion he has longer arms. The black turtle necks, he wears A WHOLE LOT!...it makes it seem he has a longer neck. Or we can think about the recent long wrist band, it makes his arms longer. Even some of the robs he wears that are LONG!!! It makes him taller. BUt this is my observation and possible conclusion. Haha...But he could all just like these things because of style.
Let's just quote Prince on this one:
"People, say I wear heels because I'm short; But I wear them because the women likes them.."
Haha...He has mostly worn wedges now, and I think for the most part he will always wear them because they have practically been a stable trademark by him, and he has worn some sense of heel anytime he is out. EVEN if those are ugly high heeled flip floppers!!! Haha...They seem comfortable though! Haha It's Button Therapy, Baby!

They are his trademark. He definitely doesn't shop off the rack, always has a singular style. I think his fashion informs his music, all part of the creative persons he has fashioned. His sartorial choices are not sensible, and neither is his music. "So fierce U look 2night, the brightest star pales 2 Ur sex..."

He probably has bunions from squashing his toes into lady like shoes...........and wearing heels does effect they way you walk and can cause hip problems, knee problems as the muscles that would normally be utilised when we walk bare footed are constantly in a contaction and are less flexible....these problems are significant as we start to age... Its sad that he is so self conscious about his height...he should be lucky that hes not in a wheel chair..there are worse things in life than being vertically challenged.
